I am and always have been, a playstation console fan through and through. But I want to get a nintendo, simply because I want to have a go on their rpgs happy.gif I don't have the money to go out and buy every console they have as well as games so I want to ask you all for you opinions.

What console has the best/most rpgs? If you could supply a list of your favourite rpgs that would be fab Oh and if there's already a topic like this then I'm sorry.

psh Super NES is the nintendo system with the most

Gamecubes library is puny.

Get a PS2 if you like RPGz.
Dragon Brigade
The DS can play GBA games, so I’d say get it for:

Golden Sun 1 and 2 (GBA)

Summon Night Swordcraft Story 1 and 2 (GBA: The first is somewhat kiddy-ish/light-hearted, but personally I found it to be enjoyable. I haven’t gotten the second yet, but it shouldn’t be too bad. There’s a new one coming out for DS as well; Summon Night Twin Age).

Dragon Quest IV / V / VI / IX(DS: upcoming)

Tales of Phantasia (GBA)

Valkyrie Profile 3 (DS: upcoming)

World Destruction (DS: upcoming)

Just to name a few for that. There are naturally a ton more that have either come out or are coming out, but I don’t know that you want such a long list...On the Wii (including GC games) you have:

Tales of Symphonia (GC)
Tales of Symphonia 2 (Wii: upcoming)
Skies of Arcadia (GC)
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (GC: strat-rpg)
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (Wii)
Zelda: Twilight Princess (either GC or Wii)

As for any others, my mind fails me. Right now the Wii isn’t exactly an rpg Dreamer’s dream come true. >.o.

Personally I’d say get the DS since you can play Game Boy Advanced games on it (not original Game Boy or Game Boy Color, unfortunately. You’d need an actual GBA for that) and since it’s the recipient of a host of new upcoming rpgs that make even TED jealous of DS owners (that is saying something).

Hope this helped somewhat.

If you're on a really tight budget then the as mentioned Super Nintendo is a neat little system to get. Games like Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger and a whole lot more classics that some of the other members will be more informed than I am to advise you on smile.gif
Dragon Brigade
Oh, and to add to the list of DS games that I forgot (after reading Cloudy’s post):

Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV (upcoming: remake)
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift (upcoming)
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

I think there are some FF Crystal Chronicles, but I've never been high up on those personally.

Reason for edit: Added another game.
Markies
If you want a portable system, get a DS/GBA. The GBA has one of the biggest library of games ever. Many of them are good RPG's, so you have a wide selection.

For a console, the SNES rivals the PS1 & PS2 in RPG department. You will be able to play classics that have basically built the RPG foundation. Final Fantasy IV, VI & Mystic Quest, Chrono Trigger, Lufia 1 & 2, Breath of Fire I & II, Earthbound, Illusion of Gaia, Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana, Shadowrun, Super Mario RPG and you play other classics on the system like Super Metroid, Mario World & Link to the Past.

The NES has very little true RPGs. N64 has less. Gamecube has some, but it is dwarfed heavily by the PS2.

I have a PS (modded for NTSC titles), PS2, PS3 and PSP, so I'm set in that department happy.gif

Wow I never knew the DS could play GBA games as well biggrin.gif It seems the DS is winning, they have alot of titles that I'd be really into (especially the ff ones <3). So I'm definitely going to get one, I'll get a SNES when I can afterwards, since there's really nothing better then old school rpgs smile.gif . Thanks for all the help and advice!

DS is your best choice. There are a number of GBA games to choose from, and there are a lot of RPGs coming for the system as well. The Super Nintendo has quite a few good RPGs as well, though I would say to just emulate.
Phisix
I say go with the DS too. It has a small range of RPG's at the moment but that is growing in the future and like everyone else says you can use GB and GBA games too.

Zelda: Minish Cap(GBA)
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass(DS)
Pokemon Series games (GB/GBA/DS)
The World Ends With You(?) (DS)
Luminous Arc(Tactics type RPG) (DS)
