Never played the first, so I have no idea if this was even a good game or not. But here's some info on the second, for those interested.

Second turn-based strategy entry headed to handheld this fall.
By Andrew Hayward, 06/03/2008

THQ announced Tuesday that it will release Age of Empires: Mythologies, the second turn-based strategy title based on Ensemble Studios' real-time strategy PC franchise, for the Nintendo DS this fall. Utilizing the same engine as Age of Empires: The Age of Kings (released by Majesco in 2006), Mythologies promises three playable civilizations (the Egyptians, Greek, and Norse), each with its own unique campaign and powerful gods. While not mentioned by name in the official announcement, Ensemble's 2002 PC hit Age of Mythology appears to be the basis for this new handheld release.

"Age of Empires: Mythologies will combine one of the most successful Windows PC franchises of all time with the innovative style and controls of Nintendo DS, bringing a totally unique experience to handheld gamers," said Kevin Kraff, vice president of global brand management at THQ. "With three playable civilizations, a fast-paced combat system and extensive multi-player options, Age of Empires: Mythologies will be one of the must-have tactical strategy games this year."

Mythologies will also feature a new active combat system, skirmish mode, and single-cartridge game sharing. Age of Empires: Mythologies is slated for North American release this fall.
