Eternal Sonata PS3 Not Coming to US

Speaking to videogaming247, a Namco Bandai Games America representative said his company currently had no intention to release the PlayStation 3 version of Eternal Sonata (Trusty Bell: Chopin no Yume in Japan) in North America. While this statement certainly is no definite confirmation yet, it is possible that the PlayStation 3 version of Eternal Sonata will suffer a fate similar as the PlayStation 2 release of Tales of Symphonia. The PlayStation 2 port of the highly popular GameCube title has never made it out of Japan.

Eternal Sonata for PlayStation 3 will hit Japanese retail store shelves sometime later this year.

Namco Bandai US has told videogaming247 that as far as it’s aware, the PS3 version of tri-Crescendo’s JRPG Eternal Sonata won’t make it out of Japan.

“I can’t speak for any other territories, but I believe Eternal Sonata is only announced for the PS3 in Japan right now,” said the spokesperson.

“We have no plans to release the game on the PS3 in the US at this moment.”

We reported earlier that there was “no news” as far as this title is concerned. Well, now there is some.

Bandai Namco Games announced that its Xbox 360 RPG Trusty Bell: Chopin no Yume (Eternal Sonata in the US) will be available for PlayStation 3 in Japan in mid-September. More than a year has passed since the game's release on the Xbox 360 in Japan, but the developers have apparently used this time to make significant changes to the game. As previously reported, two new playable characters, a new quest and the option to change a character's outfit had already been confirmed to be part of the PlayStation 3 release's feature set. Further improvements announced today include a new dungeon, a revised scenario with multiple endings as well as new songs by pianist Stanislav Bunin and composer Motoi Sakuraba.

I doubt I would get the game again, but what exactly was the added content?

Crescendo and Serenade are playable characters in the PS3 version. Another new feature is the ability to change the characters clothes. I don't know what else there is though, since the scan wasn't translated when I found it. There's probably more info to be found now.

the US release date has been up on IGN for awhile but still good news and i will be picking it up.

Well IGN have been known to be pretty pathetic with their release dates recently (Tales Of Vesperia is just one example), so it's always better to get it from the horses mouth.

On October 17, 1948, Frederic Chopin, one of the most influential composers for the piano, succumbed to sickness and died at the young age of 39. Three hours prior to that, in the world according to this RPG, Chopin saw a dream of a fairy-tale land populated by people with incurable diseases but also magical powers. Eternal Sonata takes place in this dream world. Chopin comes into contact with Polka, a young girl who resides with her mother in the village of Tenuto. Polka is near her death, and Chopin, Polka, and her young friend Allegretto as they look for some way to make use of Polka's great powers to help save her. I played the demo and it didn't really impress me so I'm probably not gonna pick it up.
