QUOTE (IMDb)
It's the story about a lazy, irreverent slacker panda, named Po, who is the biggest fan of Kung Fu around...which doesn't exactly come in handy while working every day in his family's noodle shop. Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five -- Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey -- under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Po puts his heart - and his girth - into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths. I watched this randomly last night because I was in a mood for a light hearted movie and this is what I got xD. The comedy is great and the characters are very fun to watch, especially Po. The play on the old animal/kung fu stories and sayings are awesome as well as some of the characters names (like Oogway - I think only the people that understand the chinese language would get it XD). I love the choice of voices too ~!

I actually recommend watching the movie before reading anything about it, so not to spoil the blatant play on things that the movie has.

So, if anyone is looking for a light hearted, fun animation movie this is it for the summer. If you're not, watch it anyways xD. The first scene is really pure awesomeness XD.

good to hear good things about this movie. It is once i def. have plans on watching sometime soon, as i think it looks very funny smile.gif
Dragon Brigade
Saw a trailer for this when I saw Prince Caspian, but it wasn't enough to sway me into actually seeing it (didn't make me *not* want to see it either though). Doubt I'll get a chance with it in theaters (low on the funds at my homefront), but I might consider renting it at some point just to see how I'll like it.

Yeh, that's what I thought when I first saw the trailer, it didn't really appeal to me but I still wanted to see for laughs. I ended up randomly downloading it and it turned out to be really funny and entertaining.

I really do recommend this to people that like kung fu and are looking for a laugh though. ;P

I hate Jack Black, I think he is as funny as throwing a bag of ##### at a four year old.

Wait, actually that its kinda funny, and awesome so no.

Jack Black is as funny as diarrhea.

I hate Jack Black, he is a gigantic douchebag.
Seluna
I'm not planning to watch this. No offense but a panda that might as well be a Caucasian kid/middle-aged guy does not appeal to me. To me, a panda should never be featured speaking English and sprouting American jokes.

It's ok for the Tiger in the movie to speak English and use American jokes, though? Please explain yourself because I don't really understand why it would be any sort of issue to have a Panda as a lead character in some kids animated film.

Also this movie looks like ass unless you're 8 or a kid at heart. I blame all of you people who paid to see any of the Shrek films.

First of all, Jack Black just voices the character, he's given lines to speak for a character and give it personality. Just because you dislike him doesn't mean that the movie is rubbish. I'm not a fan of Jack Black but it didn't stop me from watching it.

x_X It's an animation, Sel ;o. It's like the americans making Shin-Chan speak english. Plus, I would've thought alot of people that know the chinese and english language would find this kind of funny with the name mixing and sayings etc... It's not like they're making fun of the culture, I mean Jackie Chan even voices the Monkey x_X.

Dont try to trick me. Jack Black is enough deterrent for me to not watch a movie, unless its High Fidelity because John Cusack is the total tits in that movie and the movie is awesome, but I find Jack Black's voice to be annoying and he is the lead so he has way too many lines for me to handle.

This movie is ass Winnie, ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I'll probably get forced into watching this, my wife loves these sorts of films. That said I'll probably enjoy it when I eventually see it but I have to admit I don't know much more talking CG animals, bugs, fish etc I can take lol! That new Dreamworks animation Wall E (with the robot that looks like the one in Short Circuit) looks fun though.

Well... a tiger's not particularly tied to a certain country or culture is it? A panda is. And it is an issue to me even if it doesn't seem like one to you. I don't care if the entire world is fine with it, I'm just not comfortable with it and I'm not going to watch the movie because of it.

Actually, a panda speaking english is still alright for me. A panda sprouting American jokes isn't. Or if that makes you feel better, Ted, if it sprouts British or French jokes too, I also won't like it very much.

I know it's just entertainment, but some things just don't sit well with me and makes me cringe just at the thought of it.
The Evil Dead
Tigers aren't native to the US.

No. What makes me feel better is that you're honestly bothered by a Panda spouting off American jokes in an animated kids movie. smile.gif

I lol'd. Thanks Sel.
Noir
I'm not going to watch it because it's a panda speaking English. It has to be a BALD ##### EAGLE.

Eh I like Jack Black... ok I love Jack Black happy.gif so that's a plus for me. Having Jackie Chan involved is good stuff too.

Now I can kind of understand where Seluna is coming from. The cartoon 'Wild Thornberrys', did an episode of New Zealand and made a right cop up of it. The natives (Maori's), were portrayed with AUSTRALIAN accents and wore nothing but the traditional flax skirts, day in and day out. Not to mention they had our national animal, the kiwi roaming around during the day... Kiwis are nocturnal huh.gif I was pretty peeved but I did have a laugh afterwards. Other people probably wouldn't find that kind of ignorance even remotely funny, cartoon or not.

Anyway, it's been a long time since I've seen an animated movie that I've enjoyed, so I'll definitely give this one a chance. But I'll wait until it's in the video stores.
Noir
I will give you a tip. Children do not care about accuracy as far as nocturnal animals go, and they have a hard time understanding thick accents that they have not heard much of. Kids are not smart, you have to meet them on their level to entertain them.

Lols Jack Black only makes me think of Family Guy and the mini-clip of "The Unconventional Butler". jfdlk;jcjlaj

A lot of my friends really liked the movie, and I could believe that it's a really fun and possibly funny movie. I mean, I wouldn't pay money to see it at a theatre, but I'm sure it'd make a great dvd rental.

I watched this the other night and I can't say it was anything amazing.
It had a few laughs, but that was it. It was basically a master trains pupil, pupil becomes evil kind of story and, although the action was pretty quick, the movie itself wasn't anything fantastic.

One major disappointment for me was the amount of lines Jackie Chan had in the movie. I think it was a not more than 10 lines, or some of them were simply a word.

So yeah, overall it is alright, but nothing special. Don't expect anything from this movie, because there is nothing to expect. Well, the graphics and fight scenes are solid and by far the best thing in the movie.
