Are they starting to run out of ideas for new movies now or what.

QUOTE
UK, June 10, 2008 - The Smurfs are set to make their big screen debut in the form of a film that combines live-action and animation, according to a report on Variety today.

The little blue people had previously been set to bow in a 3-D animation for Paramount/Nickelodeon, but Sony and Columbia Pictures have now obtained the rights, and are courting Shrek 2 and 3 scribes David Stern and David Weiss to write the script.

Combining live-action and animation together does sound interesting though.

Sound funny, Gargamel rules! And after this movie I'm hoping for a gummi bears movie!

Hee, I loved the Smurfs when I was 'lil, but the movie idea still seems kinda weird...Oh well, whatever makes the kiddies happy I suppose, should be interesting.

They ran out about 4-6 years ago when people kept paying to see remakes, sequels, and bad Americanized versions of Asian horror films.

Now they're throwing darts at a board and this time they hit The Smurfs.

They have reached a new depth. Here we thought they couldn't go lower.
The Evil Dead
I dunno. They did already do Fat Albert and Alvin and the Chipmunks. That's pretty low.

Hey, Alvin and the Chipmunks was funny. Come on!!! smile.gif (no seriously, I liked that movie, not LOVED it, but liked it)

This will be an interesting turn of events for the Hanna Barbara company... It's quite sad to see that they haven't done anything big cartoon-wise since Cartoon Cartoons... (all of those which now air SUCK... BRING BACK DEXTER!!!)

I want to see the entire Hanna Barbara gang (snagglepus, Quickdraw Mcgraw, Deputy Dog, etc.) back in a GOOD new cartoon series... I miss my old cartoons sad.gif

Er... the Smurfs do not belong to Hanna Barbara. The Smurfs is a Belgian comic series. Yes, the animated cartoon was done by Hanna Barbara, however, they do not own the Smurfs.

I just hope they explain the purpose and understanding the character of Smurfette.

Why are there SO many Smurfs, but only ONE Smurfette? Do they only have one Smurfette per generation? If there is one Smurfette, then how do the Smurfs keep repopulating? There needs to be more Smurfette's or at least an understanding of how they keep themselves populated. I demand answers!
