There has probably already been a topic on this game and I know it came out on the PC too, but I want to talk about the Xbox360 version specifically. Its set up so damn good online, so much better than Halo 3, and maybe more fun. The levels are great, so much better than Halo 3 where I thought the main failure point of the game was the levels. Cod 4's levels greatly exceed Halo 3's. Anyway any other players have any thoughs on the game both online and single player?

It depends really, on how you prefer your action. (sounds terrible) some prefer the fun, less serious side of halo's online, some, like the military style of action cod4 offers. it's really a personal prefference.

i like halo's maps because they offer a more balanced form of gameplay, more open, more faster, but also even. don't like that guy over by the crashed pelican with the sniper, well, just run down there and kill him. where as, what i found in cod4, the snipers, have generally been doing it for a while, and they tend to find themselves very good spots, and with a gilly for the open land maps, it can be a real pain to get going.

i actually prefer the less realistic side of halo 3 in both campaign and multiplayer, i like running head first into a crowd of enemies with a sword slashing them to bits, you can't get that sort of fun in cod4. it's a different sort of fun, for a different sort of game.

I like that they added Prestige mode. It allows for a lot of replaying the game online. Restarting levels and losing all weapons that you unlocked and having to do the weapon challenges again makes the game interesting. After you have already gone through and reacked up kills and good stats, you get to go back to the beginning with the same stats, which is cool I think.

When was Halo fun and less serious? If you're not playing generals you're playing people that get new accounts every month... Or dealing with laggy Halo BS. That or some douche in highschool is screaming at you during pre game and " tea bagging " you because they killed you once in a game that you've totally owned them in.

CoD4 is the superior product in my mind. It's very well made and doesn't suffer from any issues, especially online, like Halo does. Halo is filled with lag filled games, cheaters, and things that make you question what the ##### just happened more often than any other FPS I've ever played. ( Bungie even posted a video about this on their site a couple weeks ago ).

The multiplayer is also far more involving with the prestige mode... And the gametypes and maps are all way better in design. I was extremely disappointed with Halo 3's maps... Especially the last DLC pack.

I've been playing FPS titles since Doom 2 on the PC and honestly CoD4 is probably one of the best to come out in many years. I can't even think of any faults in it at all.

Er... And what exactly are we talking about specifically regarding the 360 version? The online play is set up exactly the same on the PS3.

I agree that CoD is better than Halo. Halo 3, in my opinion, sucked, because it took out the freedom to explore multiplayer maps that Halo 2 had (Halo 2 was more about custom games with friends than matchmaking to me). Plus, as TED said, theres some real BS going on in Halo 3, and one day I just had enough of it and couldn't even put the game in my 360 again. Since then, I've only been playing CoD (since about a week after CoD came out) and I still haven't gotten tired of it.

Another reason I think Halo 3 just didn't have "it" was because the maps that came with the game were not that good. There are some OK maps (Guardian, Highground), some of which I just got bored of because I would get them in matchmaking up to at least 5 times in a row (The Pit) to the point that I just couldn't stand playing the map anymore, but there were some really bad maps such as Infestation (I think thats what its called). I think Bungie made a big mistake replacing Coagulation/Blood Gulch with Valhalla, because Valhalla isn't even good for vehicles because of all the broken terrain, cliffs, etc. to the point that its just a large scale infantry map. DLC map packs were also rather bland and not that good for matchmaking, so those were hardly enjoyable to me. To me, Halo 3 lacked a really good, definitive map that I think about when the name Halo 3 is mentioned to me, whereas CoD has various maps that, when someone says CoD to me, I think of, such as Crash, Broadcast, Overgrown, Creek, or Backlot, to name a few.

I think with Halo 3, Bungie should have focused less on gimmicks like forge and more on maps and proper coding, and the game would have been a lot better. CoD, in my opinion, did everything about multiplayer right.

Is the online set-up for the consoles the same with the PC ver.? Meh we dont have prestige mode, it would have been a nice incentive since some of the people I see online reuse their ID but started again from scratch.

I don't know. I'd imagine the PC one would be on servers, but I've never played it so what would I know.

That's weird they don't have the prestige mode in the PC version. O_o

I believe I read in some magazine Prestige mode was something exclusive for the console versions. If Prestige mode was something to help promote the sales of the 360 and PS3 I'd understand, but that wouldn't make sense considering it's still the same game even if you play it on the PC.

CoD 4 I think, is the best game for online, by far. In story mode, not so great, other games are better. IMO, CoD 4 is the best game since Ocarina.

The story was enthralling, for one Harry Gregson Wiliams (the guy who did the music for "The Rock", MGS 2 and all the way to the fourth game) did the musical score for the game. The scrip plot included pretty much everything you'd want from a high octane action movie, which would include plenty of gunfights and explosions. By no means it didn't have the depth of a game like MGS 4 (90 minute cutscenes and all), but there was no need for that. The story was straightforward with the player, not in-depth and analytical.

I forgot to mention, CoD 4 did a good job translating Russian. I know what they say, when my mom walked by and heard them talking in russian, she knew what they said too, obviously, and she said the did a good job doing that. I give em props.
