ok so i am ok with this info, because if all the people from Versus go to help out on Final Fantasy XIII, i think that just means that we should get FF XIII on shelves that much sooner.

In the latest issue of Famitsu, an interview with Tetsuya Nomura revealed that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is currently being put on hold. Nomura, the game's director, said that the majority of the team working on Versus XIII is now helping out on Final Fantasy XIII. The main title in the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation is top priority at the moment.
While both games will appear at the upcoming August Square Enix party (in non-playable form), Nomura hints at a bigger reveal and more info to come at Tokyo Game Show in October. Knowing Square Enix, this means a minute of ambiguous footage in a closed theater. Let's hope we're wrong about that last speculative statement and see if a playable demo comes in October.

Yeah I think that's positive as well. It means we'll get a more quality title in XIII, and probably be finished sooner. And after the developmentr of XIII is finished, the XIII team might be moved to help out with the production of Versus XIII.

well I don't mind if they take their time!
One reason they worked on both at same time up to this point, could be to make the basic frame for the games, and now that's done, they concentrate on finishing them!

Good news. The more quality the more better that Final Fantasy XIII. Hopefully this will make the full completion of Final Fantasy XIII closer.

I was a little more hyped about Versus than the main game, but I guess it's better to get one sooner than to have both late. =/

well hopefully this means FFXIII very soon and then Versus very soon after that. And I would think that if the Versus team is helping with XIII, then after XIII is done, they would help with Versus.. that would make sense.

Phew. Had me a bit worried with the topic title. Just being put on hold does sound like a good move. I'm glad to see Square-Enix finally realizing, "Oh, wait, if we do a million projects at once, nothing will get done!" I'm still more interested in Versus XIII, but I still see this as a good move. I hope the results help to provide more content for October.

well it looks like someone misinterpreted this article...

Yesterday we reported that on comments made by Final Fantasy Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura in the latest issue of Famitsu that seemed to indicate that the game was being put on hold while team members helped get plain old FFXIII out the door. Not true, says Square Enix.
"Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false," the publisher said in a statement passed on to Eurogamer. "The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled."
So either a misunderstood statement or perhaps someone a bit ticked that his staff is being nicked exaggerating a bit. I'm just a bit boggled by the very concept of game developers with free time myself. Does that happen?

To be honest, I have never read up on Final Fantasy XIII: Versus so I don't really care if it happens either way. Can anyone give me a heads up on Versus?

It's a compilation of the XIII series. The game is produced by the Kingdom Hearts producer. As usual, Nomura is the game designer and director.

Yeah, when do video game developers have free time? I am pretty sure they work like 10-12 hour days 5-7 days a week, depending on of it's crunch time or not.
I would be kind of shocked if they just stopped working on a title, so good to see both games coming out. Why they need to do 2 different games just because it's the 13th title of the series is beyond me.
