So I went through an area and ended up with 5 or 6, "Cheat Codes."
After doing some research, I can apparently upgrade 5 star rarity items. My only question is, is it worth it? What kind of upgrades can you put on? How many "Cheat Codes" does it take to add upgrades? And is there any risk in using them?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I don't think you can put on any upgrades. All it does is put + on the weapon, so it gets stronger. It's good to do on the Lost Weapons and some other 5 star equipment that you want to make a bit more powerful.

So it just adds to the physical attack/defense stat? Nothing more?

Yeah basically. It increases it's power/defense etc, the same way it does when you fuse two items together, but without adding new attributes.

Damn. I was really hoping I could upgrade the attributes, somehow, instead.
Well, I'll probably end up doing it to both Lost Weapons and Dopple weapons, as well as a few other 5 * items I plan on using...

It's actually a pretty good thing to do. My Shadowy Death has a Cheat Level of 4. (I have ALOT of Cheat Codes) All you need to find out how many Cheat Codes you need are:
a.) Just go talk with Death Grunty in the Alchemy Shop in your @HOME. The screen will display the number of cheat codes you have and the number required to alchemize the weapon.

O.O There are cheat code levels...
I'm excited.

I just used them all on Empty Skies and Silead or whatever it was called. I loved that thing.

Silad.
And I made a mistake. It was my DG-Z. YOU CANNOT UPGRADE LOST WEAPONS WITH CHEAT CODES.
Which sucks.

Hmm, are you sure about that? Lost Weapons might have to be fully upgraded, or something.

No. I tried upgrading my LW. It was at it's max level and everything. (Lv. 5) And a message came up saying
"Lost Weapons cannot be alchemized" or something to the effect.

*shrug*
Still leaves the Dopple and Silad, for now. Don't have Empty skies yet.

Where are you in the game? If you beat the story, then you should have it.

I just recieved Yata's member address. I need to go meet Aina in some area, but I felt kinda bad since the area had a higher level than I did, so I decided to go level up.
And now I'm level 143. So, I think I'm okay for the rest of the story line. I plan on getting the rest of the Lost Weapons that I want (only 2-3 of them that I haven't gotten already,) and then I'll continue the story line. By that time, I'll probably hit lvl 150...
But yeah, then I'll just speed through the rest of the story. Yay.

Damn. You only need to be 125 to beat the story. Or even less if you're skills are better. And I warn you, after you see Aina and rescue her (Or maybe that's the next dungeon). Then you may be required to go to the Hullle Granz Cathedral. At your level, it really isn't fair though. But I won't spoil it for you. Let's just say you'll be surprised and happy at the same time.

I beat it, about an hour ago, actually. And you're right, that wasn't fair at all. I got chained with 3 light ray spell things in the beginning and that alone took down 400 hp, if I wasn't such a high level, I'm sure i would have been dead right there.
But yeah, Alkaid is back!!!!!!!! ##### YEAHHHHHHHHH
Now to level her back up...*sigh*
Nothing really to mention about the ending game, it just kinda went.
And I decided that the Cheat Codes were useless outside of upgrading my Guns to hold more bullets. The cheat codes barely add damage to the 5* and only decrease the alchemy level for non 5* equipment.

A small tip:
Lv. her up in an area about 20 levels over her, and when she reaches the 130's, take her to the arena. Set her to Life and invite Pi as well. Set Pi to Rage. At the arena counter, select "Limit Battle" and choose the team called "The Sweepstakes". A good battle plan? I'm quoting this from another topic of mine:
Haseo Lv. 150 (You Only need DG-X or DG-Z, with the Silad)
Pi Lv. 150 (Set her to Rage and equip her with her Lost Weapon)
Character you want to Lv. up (Set this character to life, so they don't get attacked as easily.)
When the battle begins, run around the arena and wait for Wolf Gang (The Harvest Cleric) to use a spell. Counter it with Armor Break or another high level Broadsword attack. He'll fall. Next, use the double-trigger to quickly switch back to Dual-Guns. Now have fun killing the Twin-Blade (Who's name escapes me.) Lastly, Rengeki Ono's ass to the floor with Justice and Judgement. Keep in mind that Ono may counter your double trigger if you take your time. And make sure to keep your member ALIVE. The exp. halves itself if the member dies.
