The Los Angeles Times reports that "Spider-Man" franchise producer Laura Ziskin said the fourth installment is tentatively scheduled to hit theaters in May 2011.
Already scheduled for the month of May that year are Marvel's own The First Avenger: Captain America on the 6th and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.
Ziskin added that the screenplay is not finished yet, but that she and Sony Pictures were hopeful Spider-Man 4 could be ready in three years' time.
Neither star Tobey Maguire nor director Sam Raimi is yet committed to work on the next installment, but Sony has paid Marvel to renew its rights.
Since it's not confirmed that either Raimi or Maguire will show up for Spidey 4... Who else would you consider ( Realistically, please. ) to direct Spiderman and play the part?
Honestly I think Bryan Singer could do a good job or maybe Jon Favreau. As for playing the part as much as I hate Maguire I can't really think of anyone else fitting into the role.

Man with our luck, next Spiderman could very well be Shia Lebauf or however his name is spelled. He has been out of the spotlight for a while so maybe his 15 minutes are up, hopefully. Nothing against the guy, he was good in Holes and the one where he wore WW2 uniform, but after that, he sucks.
I do think Favreau could be a decent director for it but after Singer brought us Superman Boredom I dont trust him anymore.
As for possible Peter Parkers, anybody could be a better choice than Tobey, well except Shia.

I love that movie companies are projecting movies that haven't even been written or have anybody on board. I really don't think Marvel would be stupid enough to stray from Raimi. I would hope they at least saw the first Batman franchise when they switched directors from Tim Burton. It's okay to restart a series with a different direction, but bringing in a new one is something that really doesn't go over too well.
Honestly, I'm shocked that it is being made. From the interviews, Raimi, Tobey and Dunst all kind of sounded like the third one was the last one. Plus, with the second and third one, they have began to get a ton of negative publicity. If they do make a fourth one, they have a hole to dig out of thanks to the disappointment of Venom.

I haven’t really been much of a Spiderman fan (from the movies. Comics were alright). And honestly, I haven’t seen that many movies to be able to say who I think should direct it if Raimi doesn’t. As for someone besides Maguire to be Parker? Well...I think I actually have to agree with Ted on that one. Not the biggest fan of the movies, but I don't know who else I could really see being Pete. Doubt I’d go see this one anyway, but I guess we’ll see...It’s still a couple years from now.

He's actually been in quite a few good movies, like Disturbia. Without his likability factor that movie would have failed incredibly hard.

He's in good with Spielberg and Dreamworks. Shia has a lot more than 15 minutes coming.

Thus far the spiderman series has been thoroughly disappointing, for what the comic and its franchise WERE - the movies should have been MUCH better done. They are watchable yes, but only once - and tony macquire makes a TERRIBLE woosy spiderman even I could beat up.
Needs a 90 degree turn in a better direction, both change of actors and directors would do this good I think. What annoyed me most is they are killing off every villain instead of keeping them on! Venom should NOT have been killed off.
Not hold my hopes up for this, don't want to be that disappointed again.

Seriously? Another Spiderman movie? I haven't liked any of them so far. >_> You think they should quit while they're ahead they already ruined Peter Parker's image from a sarcastic slap sticky ##### to a whiny emo bitch. And Eddie Brock..God don't get me started.
But whatever let the crap begin.

I thought Toby was a good choice for Spiderman. Peter Parker is pretty much supposed to look like a young semi scrawny nerd. And Toby looks like a young semi scrawny nerd. He matched the role perfectly until somewhere mid Spidey 3 when ##### began to be ridiculous. But then again, Spidey 3 was a pretty #### movie.

I have to agree with you all (although I did like spider-man two). One was only meh and 3 made me want to hurt someone really really badly they screwed the pooch so hard that they should be shot for even thinking about making anymore no matter who with. They actully made me wane in my love for spider-man and for that there is no forgiveness
