I love the graphics in the game, they're similar to FFTA but updated so everything blends in nicely. It's awesome so far =)

Anyone else planning to try this game?
Athrun
I dunno. I heard bad things about the first FFTA, but I guess I'll try it out if I get the chance. So what's different about this one?
Phisix
Yes. I attend to get it this Friday. My Brother is going to town to get Super Smash Brothers for the Wii so I will get him to get Final Fantasy: Tactics A2 for me.

It looks good, and there is supposed to be over 200 missions. Add that to fully level grinding and job grinding and it will keep me playing it for awhile.
Demonwing
The laws aren't annoying/mandatory any longer (Your main character won't be sent to jail for using items >.>), the introduction is a lot shorter, and the graphics look a lot nicer, so far. Haven't played through the story much, but the main character doesn't seem to be as annoying =p

Also, 400 missions in total I believe. The original had 300
Phisix
400? Wow, I thought it was 200. Added bonus. What is the story and music like for the game?
Demonwing
Not sure yet on the story but I think it won't be anything special. Music is mostly the original FFTA tracks remixed, I like em =)
Phisix
Hmm. Does not sound that appealing. I read a review that said it was good, so I have mixed opinions. How would you rate it compared to say, Final Fantasy Tactics?

Yesss... perfect timing after finishing most of the 300 Missions in Crisis Core. Not.

Storyline has to be there for sure, if its not, then I won't try it
Demonwing
The storyline doesn't seem bad, just a tad childish in a way. Bit more mature than FFTA though, cause there are tomatoes that can bite your head off =p

I still stand by saying FFT was better *##### love the game, had it for years*, but this game is still pretty awesome
The Evil Dead
Wait... They have competent NDS emu's?
Athrun
Yah, it's called No$GBA.
Demonwing
Doesn't matter to me, I'm emulating it on my DS itself =p
Phisix
Yeah, I used to do that for games in my old PSP. Since I don't know how to do it for the DS, I will pay for it with cold hard cash.

Still, least it will be something to do as my DS is a bit dusty and unused at the moment, and the game does look good.
Dragon Brigade
Regardless of what the critics say, I plan on getting this after it's out (which is this week or something, isn't it?). I won't get it opening day though. Usually I wait until games are below $25 when I get them (Tales of the Abyss was the only exception, and I don't regret spending the money (considering I used gift cards to scrounge up enough. >.o.)), so I won't get this one for a while. But, I do intend on getting it sometime in my life if I can find it still. ^^.

Today was the release date, just that the EU version ROM came out first for some reason

My I'm a little off then. I was thinking it wouldn't be until Friday or something. Oh well...
Phisix
The UK version is out this Friday. I wonder if there will be any difference between the US and Europe versions. In any case, I will hopefully playing it on Friday. I just hope the story is worth while.
Demonwing
Yeah, it's better than the original FFTA. It involves people getting shot and eaten by tomatoes
Phisix
Unfortunately I never played Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance, so I won't be able to compare them. I had heard and read reviews that it was a kiddy version of Final Fantasy Tactics(Which you guess would happen with a Nintendo version) but it was also enjoyable. That said, the graphics do not look as mature as Final Fantasy Tactics graphics, but the colourful graphics do look nice and fit for the DS. I have also seen a video of it in action and it does not wave me away from buying it.

I guess I won't be able to fully justify how it fairs until I have played it, but I know it will not disappoint me from what I have seen and heard. It may even be a secret gem for the nintendo DS and will give me something to do on m DS until Disgaea or Final Fantasy IV come out.(Whenever that is)
Bomb
It's a pretty average-level TRPG.
The Evil Dead
All the more reason to DL this and other NDS RPG's/Castlevania's I've missed out on.

I just thought NDS emulation was still shite.
Phisix
Great, fun game. I played it non stop from 11pm till 6am this morning. I just couldn't put it down, then my battery went out so I though I had better get some sleep. I actually wrote up a review for it for another site I frequent.

Final Fantasy Tatics Advance 2: Grimoire Of The Rift
Nintendo DS
Released: 2008

Ah, Final Fantasy, a series known and loved by many people. A series that has many games in its repertoire and to add to that already bursting series comes Final Fantasy Tactics A2, the 3rd Final Fantasy Tactics game and another entry in to the Ivalice universe. The Final Fantasy Tatics games takes a different approach to the RPG genre instead of the usual turn based affair in a different sort of RPG that you have come to know in the series like Final Fantasy VII or Final Fantasy X. If you have played the the two other Final Fantasy Tactics games then you will know what to expect but if you are new to the Tatics genre then here is a summary of what to expect.

You lead a clan of characters, waging turn-based battles across various isometric grid landscapes. Battles are usually limited to six-on-six, but you'll want to fill out your clan with a broad range of skillsets. In each battle and in each round your team and the monsters get to have a go to move, attack or use any skills to defeat your enemies. You are given a choice to use different jobs classes which enable you to use magic, skills and abilities. Each job class comes with its own use of magics, skills, ability, weapons and equipment which you can use in different situations against different opponents. Once mastering skills from two or more different job classes you can use two different job class abilities or skills in battles. This can be interesting as you can mix and match different attacks and skills to each character. You can have black mage abilities such as fire or thunder and also have use White mage abilities such as Cura or Life, or you could have Time mage abilities and Ninja abilities. There are 56 different job classes so there is endless ways to customise a team to the specific way you like in battle, although jobs are still restricted by race. For example, only humes can become soldiers, and only viera can assume the elementalist class. There consists of seven different species in this game including Humes, Viera, Moogle, Nu Mou, Bangaa, Seeq and Gria, all which have been in other games from the Ivalice series.

You follow a story and take quests to level up your characters and your job classes. There are about 400 quests to take which will forward the main story of the game or you can use to level up your character and job classes and gain new skills, or to do side quest stories which pop up occasionally. Along with gaining new skills and abilities you can also take specially won items from battle and use them to create new weapons, armours and equipment which gives you a nearly endless amount to do until you fully max out everything in the game. The story itself follow the adventures of a young boy names Luso after he writes his name in to an ancient book in his school library and is transported to the world of Ivalace. He then meets up with a man called Cid and joins his clan which they then they help young Luso find a way to come home when he joins the clan. This in turn sets you up with many adventures and quests, two special characters from Final Fantasy XII also join the game in the vein of Vaan and Penelo. There are other clans dotted around the game which add to the experiance. The story is not as good or epic as the Playstation's Final Fantasy Tactics though, but it is still a good enough one to hold your attention.

The graphics in the game are beautiful and colourful 2D graphics and the magic and abilities look very nice when used in the games story, side stories and the battles. The music in Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is also very good and fits the game and battles nicely. Ranging from soothing, Fanfare and epic sounding sounds. In conclusion, Final Fantasy tactics Advance 2: Grimoire of the Rift is a great addition the DS's growing library of RPG titles and a great game in itself and this game will please you from start to finish, unless endless quests and level grinding and equipment is not your cup of tea.

I have not enjoyed a tactics game like this since, well the PSP version of the original Final Fantasy Tactics. Worth every penny I payed for it. Currently, I am around level 22 and 23 for all my characters.
Theferrell
waaaaaaaaaaaaa, I wanna DS for Chwistmas!!!!
Phisix
Heh, I know how you feel.

So far I have clocked up about 14 hours and with that I have done 32 quests, all my characters(9 Characters so far) are 22 or 23 as stated above, and I have not unlocked that many job classes, abilities, weapons and equipment. Looks like I have a long, long way to go. Can't wait to get Vaan in my party as he seem more cool than he was in Final Fantasy XII.

Haha, told you you'd love it =)
Phisix
True, but I was just worried over the story aspect of the game. I don't want to play a RPG with not much of a story. The story is not as good as Final Fantasy Tactics, or epic as any other RPG stories, but it still has one that I was interested in continuing to follow. The story itself is short(10 hours odd) but there are other small or large side stories featuring the likes of Khamja, Duel horn and other ones.

Give me a week or so and I will have all quests finished and my main team all full level.
Apple
Absolutely in loveeeeee** with this game. *o* I haven't played it intensely as I would have if I got the time I wanted to, but it's so so so so much fun. I'm kind of obsessive about making sure that I get every quest done and completed before advancing the storyline. (As I learned from the first FF:Tactics A D: ) I only have a few clanmembers....like...9 I think? But I only ever really use 6 main ones. :\ I really need to level up my secondary characters lols.
Phisix
Glad that this game has gone down well with a lot of people. I have nearly clocked 100 hours, all my characters are around level 80 and 90 and I have done nearly 300 missions. There are 400 in total. Such a great game.
Apple
^^^ Oh my jesus. o____o

To be honest, the only complaint I have about this game so far is the storyline. I mean, after a kid gets sucked into a storybook and thrust into some battle with a huge bird-like creature.....the main character (whatever his name was) was awfully chill and regular about it.....even enthusiastic? I don't know, but the delivery was really unconvincing on my end.

400 missions, jeez! I've only completed 52....but now I'm giddy to imagine that there's more out there. *o*
Phisix
There is a lot of different kinds of quests too: Normal battles, giving someone special items, capturing monsters, capturing Chocobos and some other ones. The story gets a bit better, but is nothing as epic as say Final Fantasy Tactics. There are about 51 job classes to choose from too. Worthy of the Final Fantasy name.
LagunaWannabe
Yeah I'm curious, besides fun factor, how is the storyline?? Characters? Music?? I havent heard much about it
Apple
Well I said I thought the storyline was poor. D: Unconvincing, and so far has no real direction. But as Phisx pointed out, there's bound to be more direction and purpose in the plot later on in the game. P:

Characters are....alright. There's only 3 main ones that I know of so far, and there's no clear bad guy or anything. I'm 15 hours into the game and I just finished a main-plotline quest to fetch some pearl moss. @__@ I mean, I don't know, the game is bound to get better, and the amount of quests available is bound to keep you busy. It's definitely not as fun as the original Tactics or Tactics Advanced.

The judge system is also different this time around. Rather than sending you to join, you just lose protection and you can't revive your dead characters. Not really a big deal, to be honest. I end up breaking the law if I have to.
Dragon Brigade
My sister actually let me borrow this for a while when she was visiting, so I played for around an hour. The story and characters I thought were rather lame, but things were made up for in the actual game-play. I only did about two or three scenarios, so it wasn't all that much by far, but I thought it was decent and fun. Music is nice as well.

Don't know when the next time I'll play it will be. Hard for me to really judge it as I didn't get very far, but it wasn't that bad I guess. I'll wait until it drops in price before I consider purchasing it though.
Phisix
I played it death, so I did enjoy it. You do get some better characters like Vaan and the master swordsman who is a girl which should please you. The gameplay is whats good here. The story is okay, but hardly worthwhile.
Cel Merion
Personally, they could have kept Vaan. I still haven't forgiven him for the Bach minigame.

But besides that, I find it annoying how you need to do certain quests to unlock classes. I mean I was all set for immediately recreating my team from FFTA but having to wait for certain quests is annoying. Also, while innovative, the way you have to make weapons in the balista before buying them is also annoying. I could see if it was just the weapons with the ultima skills but all of them? I don't see a point in that at all.

But it's nice that they added the other two races. Seeq rangers are almost as broken as Viera assasins once you get item lore and mirror items. Haven't used that last race yet so I'm still withholding comment..

Last thing, anyone know what race the agent belongs to? Ever since that first cut-sence with Evan I've been hoping it's ahuman Gunner.
Demonwing
The Agent class is a special, that belongs to Al-Cid

So technically it is hume, and I THINK it's a gunner =p
Cel Merion
..AL-Cid? The cid from the beginning of the game or...please do tell, I don't mind spoilers.
Demonwing
(Sorry for the late reply >.>)
Al-Cid is a character from Final Fantasy 12
