After all the drama with Michael Bay threatening to drop out of Transformers 2 because Transformers wasn't released on Blu-ray, we thought you guys would like to know the movie is finally coming out on Blu-ray September 2nd. The date was announced a while back, but now we have the box-art and details concerning the release. The box-art looks more or less like the DVD/HD-DVD releases, but Blu-ray will have an additional feature of Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio that was missing from the HD-DVD release. Other features include audio commentary with Michael Bay, two four-part documentaries, a featurette, still gallery and trailers. It will also be BD-Live-enabled with details to be announced later.

Why wouldn't they release it on Blu-Ray anyway? I guess it had something to do with the HD-DVD creators having some say in it? But you'd think they would abandon that strategy once HD-DVD died a few months back. Well anyway this movie had some nice special effects. Will be cool to see it on HD.

they were not going to release it on blu-ray originally because its a Paramount/Dreamworks movie and they were HD-DVD supporters until it lost the war.

I might get this, but seeing as other things are coming out in the fall that have my attention (Force Unleashed, Resistance 2, College, etc) I think this going to be somewhere in the middle of my "to get" list.

This will definitely be on my 'to buy' list. Transformers is tailor made for Blu-Ray

Sweet. Now I have can have a reason behind procrastinating to pick this up, lol. I don't think I'll be too busy, or broke, so I'll pick this up on release day. =)

Can't say I'm really excited enough to go out and spend cash again on a movie I've already seen several times. I dunno, maybe I'm just not all that hyped about the HD thing when it comes to movies. Past the first 20 minutes of a movie, when all the "ooo, ahhhh" wears off, it just doesn't seem all that different from watching it on an old standard def TV anyhow. And the other features don't exactly add much for me. But some people can appreciate it more than me, I guess.

Anyhow, good news overall. Glad to hear a good movie's going a little further.

Yah I second what Cloudy said. I remember him ot liking it. (And I think he watched a handcam recorded version. Not sure)
The Evil Dead
I watched a DVD screener, and I really don't like Transformers at all. Never got into the cartoons growing up, and I thought the 30 or so minutes I watched of the movie was a joke.

That's just me. I'm sure the movie will look really slick on Blu-Ray though.
