I have played Suikoden 1 on PS1 ages ago and recently have acquired an EBOOT file of both Suikoden 1 and 2 for PSP. I have finished Suikoden 1 and have a save game at Gregminster, just before the final boss battle.
Now I am starting Suikoden 2 and want to import my save game so I can have the hero from Suikoden 1 in my Suikoden 2 party. But when prompted at the beginning of Suikoden 2 to load a save game of Suikoden 1, it says there's none =(
Is there a way I can import my save game? Does anyone know? I would really appreciate your help.
Also... when I finished Suikoden 1, it doesn't prompt for Clear Data (or something like that...). The screen just ends with the picture of the hero and Gremio (and with the words THE END). Is it really supposed to be just like that?
I hope someone can help me. =)
Thank you!

To be able to upload your save data to Suikoden II, you need to have two things:
1. Save at the last save point in the game, which is inside Gregminster.
2. All 108 characters.
So, make sure you save at the save point inside Gregminster Castle and make sure it is the very last save point in the game and make sure you have all the characters.
I have no idea what an EBOOT is.

my last save point is inside Gregminster and yes, i have all 108 characters. still won't work =(
err... i dunno how to explain an EBOOT file, but it's like the game for PS1 was converted to be played on PSP.

If I recall correctly, you never got an option to save a clear game save file in the original Suikoden 1. Saving at the end of Gregminister with 108 stars was enough.
As for your problem, if you played through the game and saved at the usual spot, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Most likely it has something to do with the EBOOT thing.
Perhaps you could ask someone to make a save file at the beginning of Suikoden 2 with the data transfered, and have them upload it for you?

lol... but it's still the story and gameplay i'm after so i think i'd still enjoy it.

It must be the EBOOT thing.
What I think the cause is, is that the PSP doesn't recognise the data, as it is not original PSP data. Suikoden I and II are released on the PSP (only in Japanese), which does work.
My advise would be to play the games on either a PSX, or a PS2, which should work.
Another thing you could do is, provided you can play Suikoden I and II on a PSX/PS2, is boot Suikoden II with the Suikoden save file, save it as soon as you're allowed and then convert it to your psp.

Which version are you playing on the PSP now? The PS1 version, or the actual PSP release? (Which is in Japanese)
If you are playing the PSP version, then I don't know what the problem might be. If you are playing the PS1 version on the PSP, then then it's probably that the PS1 game is programed to search for the file in the memorycard slot based on the Playstation hardware, and the PSP works a bit differently since it doesn't have one.
