I'm bored, so I decided to start up a discussion on a subject that some people find taboo, Hentai. Whenever I troll around other forums, the mere mention of it seems to be a forbidden for some people, and quite frankly I find it absurd that those people would find it as such. Minus the tentacles, monsters, futanari, etc. it's just like any other flick aimed for a more mature audience (i.o.w. porn), and some of the stuff we can see in "real" pornography is far more disturbing than the stuff I would find in Hentai (i.e. Bestiality, fecal ingestion, etc.), but that's just me. Well I digress, so I'd like to get to the main points of this topic.

1. Why is Hentai taboo for some people (maybe even yourself)? Should it be? Why shouldn't it be?
2. Discuss you're favorite Hentai titles (games, series, movies are welcomed), if you wish to share them.
3. How has hentai made an impact on our society, whether it be subculture-wise or culture-wise?

Also, I don't expect this to happen in place as small as this, but as a precaution if anyone decides to post pics in this topic let's keep it clean alright. I'd like to keep this topic up. In anycase....

As for the subject matter, hentai is like a big pile of bargain bin... you have to swim through a bunch of crap before you can find really good to great titles.

You could say that about any form of media though.

Hentai is taboo because it's like porn. So... Yeah. I understand why some people think that but just like porn I think it should be allowed to be created for mature audiences.

As for my favorite titles I can't say I can remember titles to the ones I enjoy because they're generally either not translated into English or they're somewhat forgettable as far as a title. I will say that tentacles are the win, though.

I don't think hentai has made much of an impact on our society as American's, probably not to the level as it does overseas. Honestly I don't know any friends that ever talk about it IRL and outside of a few people I know online who watch it most of the dudes just prefer regular pornography and really don't have any experience with hentai.

The only Hentai film I've ever watched is a film called "Kite"... I watched it on youtube years ago (They were a lot more relaxed apparently). I had no idea it was a Hentai film, I only looked it up because I saw some clips put against an MSI song and it looked awesome. This wasn't really a hentai film, more of an action vendetta film which just happened to have some pretty hardcore scenes in it. Sadly I never saw the end of it, shame it was a good film and maybe I'm adult enough to just not let the hentai bother me... maybe also because all the sex scenes (That I saw) were uncomfortable, and although not rape per se, they provided a lot of subtext and making them explicit just added to it. Maybe it was just plain rape... I can't really remember, I could just trying to be justifying it to myself xD

I guess I have yet to see a proper hentai film... but I generally don't find porn that appealing... it's too fake and usually predictable.

What's wrong with tentacles, monsters and futunari? I have to say that they have their charm. I found that fantasy stuff more enjoyable then watching a normal guy discriminating an anime girl making a more realistic picture of a normal world. And if you counter with how sick that is then I'll counter that the makers are much more sicker then the viewers. *cough*

Hentai really is something that can't be avoided. I like anime characters, their appearance always fascinate me. I find a CG characters (FF7AC for example) much more beautiful then our own. Maybe because the skin is kinda flawless, if I can put that way. And those eyes...

Don't know about H titles. Watched only a few when I was a horny kid but got disgusted by the way things work there. Girls get raped and worse, I just couldn't stand it anymore. Maybe I missed the few where there is romance and other stuff but I don't watch anymore so It doesn't matter.

I can't say anything about hentai influence in society, but anime girls are always welcome in my book together with their super bouncing boobs in anime or anime games (JRPGs) which is part of my daily life now. Anime made me love Japanese language and their culture. If we could vote, I guess I'm more for the anime with partial nudity then the hentai now.

I know I talked more about regular anime, but thats how the things are.

Lol, yeah true enough, it took me awhile to actually find titles that I actually enjoy. currently I have 6 titles that I like watching out of the 100+ other titles I watched and hated.

Some may call me a perv, but i have a small collection of hentai. why? i'm single and i don't get out much.

Thanks Sigs, actually though I have my ways in finding some quality flicks, but usually I just follow certain production studios that make my favorite series (such as Frontwing, Milky, etc). Usually I find the series they produce more enjoyable than ones I watch on a limb.

I agree. Nothing else to say really. Ive watched and read my fair share, and most of my reading or watching has contained some form of rape, taking advantage of a younger person, or blackmail. All those things happen to people in real life as well, which probably makes some people not want to watch hentai because of it.

That and Tsukihime, are probably two of the best if only because there's a huge story and characters with detail. The porn is more or less a bonus.

Well, this is awkward for me. Anyway, I did see many hentai, such as that one visual novel called School Days. It's very good. I really like it. I cried at some endings though.

I know that among my group of friends, Hentai is pretty much a ridiculed thing. Like, in the sense that someone is getting off out of animated images of sex, rather than the real deal. They usually use the idea of hentai as a derogatory joke, but that's them lols.

I personally don't really care. Whatever you like is whatever. P: I played a hent game once called True Love with my friends, and we thought it was funnier moreso than actually disgusting or shameful. I admit I won't watch it for kicks, but watching it for fun is hilarious. *o*

One reason I belive (among others) that make it taboo is just because it is animated, "do you get horny on drawn pictures?"

I have to disagree. I don't know about you guys, but there's generally one reason why I watch it. A hentai ep with maybe 30 minutes of storyline with maybe a few minutes of sex is annoying as hell.

I just think it's a little weird because people are getting off on cartoons. But to each his own, I guess, creeps.
