This is really awesome and I know I'm getting it as soon as it comes out.

So how much are they planning on charging for this? 99 cents?

I love Megaman but I wouldn't be willing to pay very much for a game that's made with the NES game engine.
Athrun
Weird, I thought Megaman 9 would be in SNES graphics at the very least. Didn't expect to see an 8-bit Megaman again that looks like it was made in the 80's. But I don't think thats for me. When I got Megaman Collection I played through a few of them, but then I felt like I had enough. After the X series came out, it's hard to go back to the more simple gameplay, even though it has it's nostalgic charm. I'd be interested to see if they can make some nice 8-bit music though.
LunarMaster
I would pay up to $40 for the game (it would need some stellar reviews), but my guess is that it will fall between $20 - $30. My favorite MegaMan is 3 (closely followed by 2) and I'm loving the direction they are taking with this version. MegaMan 8 has some really nice sprites (on PSX and Saturn), but I never thought it was better than MM3. The designer also stated that they wanted to make it feel more like MM2 since it is the most praised game in the series. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I really want this game.
Athrun
My favorites were MM3, 4 and 7. But at least they have a female boss now, so they're not discriminating any more. I guess that counts for something. lol

Now here's something that would make the fans of the Blue Bomber happy: do you remember our previous report about Capcom's Mega Man 9 being a WiiWare exclusive? Well, here's another update concerning that tidbit: Mega Man's latest adventure does turn out to be a multiplatform affair after all.

The game will also be available through PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

Here are some details on the upcoming Mega Man 9: aside from the robot masters that we have mentioned in a previous article (Magma Man, Concrete Man, Splash Woman, etc.), the game will also feature 50 new enemy robots.

To spice things up even more, Mega Man 9 will include an online leaderboard system that will tally and size up every player's performances against each other. Yes, we also agree that it's a sweet deal.

That's not the only bombshell that Capcom will be doling out for the Mega Man fans, however - the first two games in the series, Mega Man 1 and 2, will also be hitting the Wii's Virtual Console service in the near future. Awesome? Yes, it is indeed.

In the meantime, watch Mega Man's world debut trailer, featuring 8-bit cutscenes that seem to be taken from the opening sequence in the game. Play it, and let nostalgia drown you.

The trailer can be found in the link above. Pretty awesome that it uses 8-bit music. I want to see Splash Woman.
The Evil Dead
Keep it on WiiWare I don't want it.

Seriously the game is a joke, and I've been a fan since I was a kid. If this game is any more than 5 dollar it's a huge disservice to fans and loyal buyers. Even if it is that price I wouldn't pay it, because the game isn't worth it and I'm a bit bothered that Capcom thinks they can get away with using a Nintendo game engine to make a new game.
LunarMaster
Love that trailer. I'm going to have to get the 360 version now. I was kinda looking forward to actually buying something on WiiWare, but I would much rather see the sprites in 1080p rather then 480p and of course to get some Achievements. That music sounds freaking awesome.

What's the last Megaman you played? Megaman X5 and X6 were not very good, and X7 was garbage. It seems like they are focusing more on the gameplay with this iteration rather than a graphical upgrade, and I hope they pull it off.

The price is $10 and it will be worth every penny.

Last one I played is MMX7.

Focusing more on Gameplay? Because the graphics in the newer Megaman titles were so amazing and awe inspiring... Distracting from the gameplay? Please man.

They're focusing on lining their pockets and turning out a game that costs nothing to make. How can they focus any more on the gameplay? It's a platformer. A very simple one at that. I don't see how reverting back to an ancient game engine is going to help them improve how the game plays. In fact I'd imagine it'd play like an NES Megaman.

Why can't we get a full blown CURRENT gen Megaman with ... Say... The graphics of Lost Planet? Megaman is too good to be rehashed on a 18 year old engine.

But yeah. Not picking on you or anything. I'm just kinda miffed about this game.
Vilagen
I kind of agree with TED to a point. I do enjoy Megaman games, and it has been awhile since I felt like I played a really good one, but I would rather have some nice clean looking sprites than blocky NES graphics. Granted, I know that Capcom makes top quality games, and I do think this will be a well developed game in and of itself, but I can not say I favor the retro look.

The 360 has a horrible d-pad. I don't understand why you'd chose the 360 version when you have a PS3 as well. If it's about Achievements, there are Trophies now you can start to collect.

I thought X5 was okay, but I didn't like X6. Especially since they ruined Zero's moves. X7 was really bad, to the point where I didn't feel like playing through the game at all. Megaman X8 was good though, and it went back to the regular X style of play. You should try that one.

As for Megaman 9, I think SNES style graphics would have been better. Or even the Playstation style sprites would have been nice. When they already have made Megaman games that look like this

and this

then I don't get why they're going back to the oldest Megaman style. It'snot like the SNES or PS graphics took anything away from the gameplay.
Athrun
Presskit for Megaman 9.

That's really awesome. lol The game should be sold like that. =p
Vilagen
For a reasonable price, I would buy that. It's just too awesome to pass up.
LunarMaster
Looks freaking awesome. The cheesy art is icing on the cake.
Theferrell
Honestly, Mega Man X was the best one ever. After that, they just went stupid on us. Played X9, and hated it.

If it was like $15, I'd give it a shot... ESPECIALLY if it was cased in a retro game cartridge smile.gif
Athrun
And two months later, I got to see Splash Woman.

I think she is the first female boss in the Megaman series?
Amna Umen
Indeed she is. I was playing this a little bit yesterday. Actually really fun, never played a Mega Man game in my life. So it was really cool. My roomate downloaded it the minute it was available and ended up skipping most of his classes just to play it.
Cel Merion
Eh, It's megaman so I MIGHT pay it some attention if I could..but I agree with TED on the 8-bit thing. I'ld rather have another ZX game or one like MM8 at the least. I bet MM9 will end up a bonus game in the next real MM game they make, like those 8-bit stages in ZX-Advent.

Edit: Allow me to add: The first girl Robot Master and that's what they come up with? Splash Woman? Unless her special attack includes throwing Oprah or Rosie O'Donald at you that just sounds lame.

http://www.duelinganalogs.com/comic/2008/0...man-villains-x/ < Let me get Obvious man instead.

Edit AGAIN: One more thing, OH LAWDS, NOT THE JUMPING BLOCK PUZZLES AGAIN! Those things are as annoying as Gutsman's stage, no even more so. X_X
LunarMaster
I want to get this on the 360 for the Achievements, but the damn game isn't coming to XBLA until next Wednesday (DukeNukem was this weeks arcade title). I might just bight and get it on the Wii or PS3. Does it have Trophies on PS3?
Grahf
Yeah, as said above it does have trophies.
LunarMaster
I just did a quick search online and there are no trophies on the PS3 version:

AnimePaul
I played the demo and didn't like it that much. It seemed really hard and I just couldn't get over the updated graphics. Yes, I know they were going for the retro feel, but still.
Cel Merion
Everyone get the shades and yellow scarfs

Hey look, for the first time people can play as protoman himself. Awesome huh?

my bad, I could have sworn someone said there was/there was an announcement that there were trophies, but I'm probably thinking of one of the many other games that came out this week on PSN.

Anyway, I also played the demo, and don't think I'll be buying this, at least not for a while. I hate to say it, but it was just too hard for me to the point where I just wasn't having fun. Its something to look at in the future but for now I think I'm gonna download WipEout HD instead.
LunarMaster
Tried the demo and liked it quite a bit. I will admit that it did seem difficult, but I had fun playing it(when you get to the boss the demo ends sad.gif). My only small complaint is that there is no slide, but I can live without it. I might still end up getting the PSN version, but I'm going to try hard and wait till next Wednesday. Really tempted to get DukeNukem in the mean time (quite a few friends of mine are already on it).

If you want to play with the 360's D-pad, then I see no problems getting it for that console. Otherwise I'd prioritize the actual gameplay experience over bragging about said experience to others.
Trophies might be added later. Probably not though. Perhaps Capcom don't realize that people may want it until they hear feedback. But from the sound of the ones on Live, I wouldn't bother with them anyway.

I'm definitely getting it for the Wii when I have the chance...which might be in 8 months!! Stupid campus blocks any kind of connection I have tried to far with my Wii, even through that Wifi device Nintendo sold. (Which sucks because it going online with my Wii was the reason why I hunted down that device at my home.) I tried connecting through an ethernet port on my roommate's 360, but it blocks any kind of access through that as well.

If I could just get a wireless signal in this room, things might be a bit different. For some reason you can get about 4 bars the moment you step out of my room, but the moment you step in your lucky to get one. I just don't understand what the hell the problem is with this one tiny location.
LunarMaster
Finally got it today. The only thing that comes to mind when thinking of this game is pure ruthlessness. The game gives no mercy , makes you it's b*tch, and I'm loving every minute of it! I'm a bit tired today so I just ran through all the stages once, but man is it a tough game. As a side note the analog stick controls fine so you don't need to rely on the d-pad.

I got both. =D
LunarMaster
Finally got around to beating it yesterday. I only have 55 GP in it ( you only get 5 for beating the game), but I definitely want at least 100 before I put the game down. Awesome game.
