I was in Studio Art for the last quarter I was at San Diego and so I had to work a lot on random traditional stuff. Well...I can't really call it a studio art class....my professor did art history lectures and my TA just told us to "go out and do stuff". So I guess it's a free-for-all class lols. <:D Very unlike Studio Art in high school, that's for sure.

So here are some things I worked on while I was enrolled!

Media : Watercolor, Acrylics, Ink, Newspapers
Prompt : Create a work of art using yourself as the medium. (ie; Cindy Sherman, Frida Kahlo, etc.)
Thoughts : I think this could've been done better. I feel like it looks a little "n00b", if that makes sense. Mostly in terms of color choice. D: But the TA only really criticized my use of newspaper, although it's probably my favourite part. (That, or the faces.)

Media : Charcoal on 18"x24" sheet
Prompt : Take a photograph and create a realistic drawing. (ie; Chuck Close)
Thoughts : Boring project is boring. Ho hum. To be honest, you guys, I hate drawing these ##### realistic drawings that's so plain and cookie-cutter. I think I loathed my TA that week.

Media : .20mm Micron Inking Pen on 18"x24" sheet
Prompt : Create a surreal/abstract expressionist work using elements from a set of collective drawings. (ie; Salvador Dali)
Thoughts : very very fun to do. But I had to rush it due to the intensity of the details and the size of the sheet. I got a week to work on it, but trust me, every line, every dot, ever swish was impossible to do carefully in a week.

Everything looks quite nice. The inc image is feaky and I like it. The shock factor and bizarreness really caught my eye.

The second one actually is my favorite of the lot in terms of first impressions/impact. Really, really realistic and just looks about perfect in my eyes. I’m not as big a fan of the first one (though I can second your fondness for the use of newspaper) just because it looks...well, I don’t really know what word I’m looking for. I think it’s actually the color that’s throwing me off. They’re the usual red/blue/yellow primary colors. The third one, well...I couldn’t imagine finishing something like that unless I had a year or something (I’m a relatively slow drawer, unless I do nothing else other than eat and sleep).

Anyway, those all look good (despite what criticism I have of them). Good work Apple. ^^

This is all really groovy. I'm really digging the last one in particular, it would be awesome to see some color in it smile.gif

Thanks guys! (I'm so glad ya'll can appreciate teh freaky. ; ; Creepy art is my favourite form to draw!)

I do agree, the first one has awkward colors. I was going more for a murky dank mood, but it didn't turn out. Oh wells lols. I still got an A in the class.
