Have you bought a new CD? Discovered a new song? Saw a great band? Loving an old song?
Well, let's talk about it. Post any new music you got recently.
Ben Folds Five - Naked Baby Photos
Ben Folds/Five is one of the artists that I decided to buy every single album in their discography. I already had "Whatever", so this is the first album of the others that I needed. With this one, I think I got a mixbag of everything in there spectrum. This album has some really great songs and some really.....interesting ones. Unfortunately, the exclusive content is rather sparce as many of the songs can be heard on other albums, so I don't think it was a great choice to start off with. But, that doesn't deter from the overall quality of the album. It's still good and it just makes me more psyched for the later albums.
Overall Grade = C+
(I did this one first because I needed the song, "Emaline". God, I love that song!)

The latest band I recently got into was this really new new new band called Plants & Animals. They just released their first album, Parc Avenue, and I'm loving every track on it! They're actually playing at a venue relatively close to where I am, but I just went to a show 5 days ago and I don't think my parents would approve. =___=
I'm also getting really into The Dodos. They're also a new band releasing their freshman album, "Visitor". Even though both are new, I think The Dodos are coming out with a bigger "bang" with their song "Red and Purple", and are sure to be big hits in the indie world in the future.

The one that comes to mind the most is the new Scar Symmetry album, Holographic Universe. Just downloaded it a couple weeks ago and plan on buying it when it's released on July 8th. Fantastic melodeath with a progressive twist done just the way Scar Symmetry like it, with extra asskickery.
I also got the new Hollenthon CD... Never listened to them before but their CD Opus Magnum is quite an interesting album. It's symphonic metal but not really done in the black metal style per usual... It's very diverse and I felt a very solid album any metal head should enjoy.
As for shows... Last one was In Flames, in my city. THOSE STUPID BASTARDS. Nah, actually there was an awesome turnout... They'll be back.

Never really liked Oasis before but for the past few weeks straight me and three friends now in 6th year have free periods in school so we go in the music rehearsal rooms and jam to music, especially Little by Little and Buck Rogers. Its been a good few weeks and I've really got into Feeder and Oasis.

I think the newest album I've been listening to is City and Colour's Bring Me Your Love, which was released in February... Great album, though. More upbeat than Sometimes, and much more involved instrumentation (some harmonica, some electric guitar, and some drums thrown in here and there), all with Dallas' usual amazing voice.
I doubt I've been listening to any new artists, though. Anything else new I've been listening to are just OCRemixes.

Tried Death Cab for Cutie's Narrow Stairs.
I think I can sum it up with the word "disappointing". I guess either their older work was better or they are one of the biggest overrated bands of all time.

Your assumption of the older stuff being better is right. By better I mean, weirdier, kookier, and cooler.

New stuff, hard to say. I haven't really been listening to new stuff, more digging into the backlog and falling in love with a couple things, but as far brand spanking new things I downloaded...lets see...
Aereogramme - My heart has a wish that you would not go. - British Pop Rock...yeah...A guilty pleasure. Really.
Frost* - Milliontown. - Good ol' poppy prog
Kayo Dot - Blue Lambency Downward - Still trying to get into it, but I don't despise it like I did when it first came out.
Echolyn - Mei - These guys are golden. Its like progressive rock in the vein of Gentle Giant, except with quite a bit more SOUL. And a fantastic vocalist as well.
Biffy Clyro - Blackened Sky - More guilty pleasure british pop rock. Even moreso than Aereogramme's album.
No-man - Schoolyard Ghosts - They released a new album recently, and I've been a fan of their stuff for quite some time, mostly their "Wild Opera" era stuff, but flowermouth is great too.

okay, I lied a bit. :x as far as shows, no one I like goes to cleveland anymore.

My friend, who is the hugest nonbiased Coldplay nut (gone to see them at least 3 times) said Liva la Vida sucked nuts.
But I've yet to give them a try.

There's a few nice songs on that album, such as Liva La Vida, Lovers In Japan and Violet Hills, but it isn't anything major. In my opinion, a nice album to listen to with some nice songs.

Always! ;D
I'm seriously out of touch with "english" music now XDD. I constantly listen to Japanese and Chinese music only now x_x oh, and a little bit of Korean xD. So it's kind of easy for me to discover new music.
I got ayaka's new album and it is LOVE +_+! Very relaxed/summer feel to it but it also has those mellow tones in some songs too and her voice is great ;]. I've been very into HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR too, getting a hold of their albums aswell as their recent new single ;P, I love Maaki's voice so much. Their recent single "HOT LIMIT" (a cover of T.M.Revolution's track) is great and also good for the summer ;P.
Lolz, I've been in a summery-happy mood these days.

More new HaMC? I will have to look into this.
Uhh, well, I grabbed the Silent Hill 3 complete soundtrack (fanmade/ripped from the game), which I've been enjoying. Also just picked up the Aria the Animation OST, which is nice, as expected from watching the show. Contrary to the SH3 soundtrack, it's got lots of relaxing summer-esque tunes. =]

As with Rina, my brothers listening alot to The Dodo's, as well as Coldplay.
Myself? Err, I guess besides the ones that Clay mentioned, I've been getting alot into Spastic Ink, and Blotted Science. Both are projects by a guitarist called Ron Jarzombek. He is quite good.

Feeder. Not exactly "New music" but I rekindled my love for them... I'm also going to see them in October! (:
Recently got into a Chinese singer (lol, I feel apart of a small minority!) who's name has just left me, but her style is very folk and traditional and I love that sort of stuff, so it's all good. =3

To be honest, there has not been much new much in the last year that has got me listening to them. The newest Pendulum song: Propane Nightmares is the only new song I hate listened to for a long time. Awesome Drum and Base.

Really? People go apeshit for I Will Follow You Into the Dark, and I'm pretty sure that was on Plans.
I just started listening to a bunch of new music, actually.
Techno/dance/whatever-you-want-to-call-it:
Apollo 440
Andy Hunter
Japanese:
UVERworld (more than just D-technolife and Colors of the Heart)
Base Ball Bear
But most notably, I just got into Hypnogaja, a prog rock band from California. One of the guys from that band did Nero's battle music and the ending credits music for Devil May Cry 4. I think they're pretty good, but I can't find any of their albums to download. It's difficult. =/
EDIT: Totally just found Party Ben, and I've been hooked on his mashups. He takes two songs and splices them together. i think his most famous work is a Snow Patrol / The Police mash up called Every Breath You Chase (chasing cars and ever breath you take). He's got a Green Day/Oasis mash up that's pretty popular too.

Pete Yorn - Nightcrawler
I am a big fan of Pete Yorn's first two albums. Musicforthemorningafter is a fantastic album and a classic in every sense. Day at Work is a good follow-up that is very short and sweet. Easy to digest, but oddly addicting. So, to pick up his third album, I was ready with excitement. You can definetly tell that he is going with a much darker and harder sound with this album. Many of the sounds is rather disorted while other songs are a strip-down version with his breathless voice and a simple guitar. It took me a few listens, but I was getting into much of it by the time I was done. I think his first two albums were better, but I was still impressed with this work. A very solid effort and a nice conclusion to his "day triology".
Overall Grade = B+

People also go apeshits for Britney Spears.
I don't know, I guess it's a good song for the overly-sentimental. But besides the lyrical content, everything on Plans goes from one boring song to another. Where is the quirkiness? Where are the slight distortions or oddities that made the older albums just so great?
And that's my biggest complaint about Plans. They played it safe. They played it where it was most marketable, to every sentimental teen out there in the world who gets enamored by a slow-tempo song pining for a love that will last unrealistically forever. Compared to songs like "President of What?", "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" has been said and done.
And that's my two-cents. :D

I been listening to "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zepplin lately. I love that song.

As for new, I'm still waiting for t.A.T.u.'s 3rd album to be released. It was suppose to be released in June, but sadly Yulia got very ill and I guess they postponed the album to be released.....again.

Just started listening to Bag Raiders. Their song Fun Punch sounds a lot like a Daft Punk song. Not any in particular, it just feels like it's the same style. It caught me off guard, a friend of mine showed me the video, and I was hooked. I guess the duo is from Australia, and they're actually really good. Check 'em out if you're into Daft Punk.

Ah crud, I loved Plans

that was a while ago though... Nah I still love alot of the songs on there. I went 'apeshit' for Marching Bands of Manhatten and Crooked Teeth though.
Hmm, after being a music nut for quite a few years I've kind of taken a break. I've just been mindlessly accepting whatever's on the radio and some old bands I used to listen too. Might try find something inspiring now.

Well, if it counts, I just grabbed the full version of Ikimono-gakari's "Blue Bird." I wasn't all that fond of "Hanabi" in Bleach, but I really dig this song. I like their use of... harmonica, is it? Overall, just a nice sound they produce. I'm kind of tempted to check out the rest of their material.

Ikimono-gakari "Blue Bird" PV Their album(s) are pretty solid and they experiment alittle more than what they release as their singles.
I've uploaded the HQ version of "BLUE BIRD" and if people want it they can check out the Naruto Shippuuden anime topic.
Ikimono Gakari - Uruwashiki hito PV is another one of their popular singles.
I also suggest you check out their lives as well, Kiyoe has such a great voice ;P.
I was very into Namie Amuro's album "PLAY" and her latest single "60s70s80s" which samples 3 songs from the different times. Her songs are so catchy xD - she's a good performer too although, I wish she'd smile more in her lives =/.

I just started listening some new bands
Panda: Mexican punk rock band, they sound great and I am happy I finally decided to check them out, truly great tracks. They are kind of Fall Out Boy but better, not so gay.
Taking Back Sunday: Pretty good for what apparently is an Emo band. Checked out Tell all your friends, Where you want to be and Louder Now. From what i heard is not bad and kinda like it. Mostly because its not that emo, more punkish.
Rufio: Checked out The Comfort of Home and liked it, pretty good songs there. I got the itch to check them out when I heard their rendition of Like a prayer by Madonna on Punk goes pop. Made the song bearable. Thrice has a good Send me an Angel but they ruin it by screamoing the chorus. Thats a nostalgic song there man.

I actually am looking for music by The Alligators. .___. They're this band I just got into, although I've only heard one single, but boy....was that single worth a listen. *___* I'm hoping to find more from them, but they are the epitome of obscure. :\
The same goes for Barth and Rademacher. I'm still looking for music by these two other than the few singles I've checked out from them. D:

Recently one of my friends burned me a new CD of our favorite band t.A.T.u. ... It has an English version of one of their Russian hits... For those who listen to foreign music: don't you hate it when you listen to the English version of a foreign song, and you can't get the foreign lyrics out of your head? That has been happening to me... I can remember about half the song in English, then the Russian lyrics kick in... It drives me insane...
Wow...I got really off topic----
I have also been listening to about six CDs my other friend burned for me of bands we both like, like Freezepop, Within Temptation, and Nightwish, <--- All amazing bands... Freezepop is a hardcore joke band.. they are a serious band, but they joke so much in their music... you have to keep an eye out for it... Within Temptation and Nightwish are both classified as Gothic Opera, or Gothic Rock (depending on what site you hear it from).
