Hyoushitsu
Hello there, all. Through my own sheer folly and blunder, I ended up being caught on the "other side" when I signed up earlier. Usually, I'm more astute than that. Haha.

Anyway, I've been watching the forums here for about a week, and it seems to be a nice place. I'm hoping to become a small part of this great community.

Well, lets get on to the survey part. ^^

---About You---
Name or Nickname: Hyo or Hyou
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Height: 5'8 1/2
Hair: Dyed red
Eyes: Bluish-green
Single or married: Single
Location: Arizona
Instant Messengers & Screen Names: You can just check my profile for those.
When you are online: Whenever. I tend to go through periods of activity and inactivity. I'm never on at a set time.
Do you have a website?: I do not.
Other favorite website(s): RPGClassics.com

---Favorite---
Music: I'm pretty open when it comes to music. I listen to a great variety. Modern rap and country are about the only things that are off-limits with me. Though I do also have an aversion to a few specific bands.
Movie: I have many.
TV show: Don't watch TV enough to have a favorite. I suppose it'd be whatever good anime happens to be playing on Adult Swim.
Actor/actress: Again, I have many. To name a few: Gary Oldman, Jeremy Irons, Alan Rickman, Jennifer Connelly, Tilda Swinton, Ian McKellen, Laura Dern, Dean Martin, John Wayne, Cary Elwes, Laura Linney, Liam Neeson, Christopher Lee, Rufus Sewell, Malcolm McDowell, Holly Hunter, Kevin Spacey....
Magazine: Classic Nintendo Power. =p
Food: Anything spicy.
Hobby: Gaming? I suppose that's a pretty generic answer for someone who is interested in becoming a member of this forum, but eh.

---Gaming Preferences---
Your favorite system: Super Nintendo. I seriously doubt there'll ever be a console that beats that one for me.
Your least favorite system: Don't really have one. I suppose the original Xbox didn't have many games that interested me...
Favorite game genre: Strategy RPG.
Your favorite game: This one is tough. The ones that come to mind are: Final Fantasy VI, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, Skies of Arcadia, and pretty much the entire Fire Emblem series.
Your least favorite game: Don't really have one. If I don't enjoy a game, I stop playing.
Your favorite game developer: I enjoy a lot of developers. Don't really have a favorite. Although I DO have a favorite publisher: Atlus.
Game you are currently playing: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Lost Odyssey.
How many games do you own?: A whole lot. I don't really know exactly how many.
Do you rent games? Not anymore. I usually go with my intuition and gut instinct when it comes to games. It rarely lets me down.
How many games do you buy a month?: Less than one, these days. Times are tight.
What is the one game you don't own but wish you could get?: Star Ocean: The Second Story.

How did you hear about this forum? A friend of mine told me about this place. He signed up about a month ago, but I can't remember what his username is. Whoops. sleep.gif

Glad to officially be here. :0)

Also, those little typos in the intro survey annoy me a little (I'm OCD about some things =p). You guys ever think about amending them?
Dragon Brigade
Well, the only who can do that (to the best of my knowledge) would be Eva, but I don’t know if anyone’s bothered to ask him to fix the intro stuff. *shrugs*.

Anyway, you sir, have a good taste with most of your favorite actors (Oldman, Rickman, McKellen, Lee, and Irons), and Tilda Swinton isn’t too bad herself. I don’t think I’ve really seen any of the others in movies though (aside from Wayne, but I don’t care for westerns). Wait, Cary Elwes was the guy in Princess Bride (and Stardust)...Wesley, right? I recognize the name, but I can’t remember.

But yeah. Welcome to the forums, and stick around for a bit. You seem like you’d be a good poster. =).
Hyoushitsu
Ah well. No biggie. I'm not a spelling/grammar nazi, I swear. I just have some weird OCD impulse for a survey like that to be well organized and professional-looking. I don't know. XD

Thank you. I like to think I have good taste in actors. Those are only about half of my absolute favorites - the ones I could think of off the top of my head. But yes, Cary Elwes played Westley in The Princess Bride. A wonderful film, and a wonderful character.

Many thanks for the welcome and the compliment. I intend to stick around for as long as I'm able. ^^

The book (well, abridgement) was better smile.gif Welcome welcome, you MUST get Star Ocean 2 asap. Wicked game. See ya round the forums Hyou!

Greetings.

I don't normally welcome new members anymore, as most of them disappear again after only a few days. But since you stated you want to stick around for as long as possible and have made some solid posts already, I hereby welcome you to Dreamers. xP

Nice avatar. Flea, the weirdo who claims to be a guy. And I suppose he is, since in Chrono Cross he wears a fake-boobies-bra. Despite that, I still like to think it's actually a girl, but that's just me. xD

And, red dyed hair? Cool. Unnatural hair colors ftw! I'd like to dye my hair (dark) blue someday, but I haven't gathered the courage yet to do so. =S

So anyways; enjoy your stay, happy posting, and maybe we'll see you in Live Chat someday? =p

Thank you muchly. Yeah, all of my friends rave about Star Ocean 2 as well. I've never had the chance to play it but I've always wanted to.

Yeah, I know the schtick with internet forums. I've actually been staff at a few before, and I can see why people would get tired of welcoming people who often don't even show up again. It's menial and hard to keep the enthusiasm for it. But as I said, I definitely plan to stick around here. Thank you very much for welcoming me. ^.^

Yeah, I have a policy. Whenever I first sign up on a forum, I use the Flea gif as my avatar. How quick I change it will often fluctuate, but it's always my first avie.

I also wish to dye my hair a dark blue shade, eventually. I've been apprehensive for a couple of reasons. First, I'm not really sure where I could find a place to get semi or demi-permanent dye in my area. Second, I'm just a little cautious to use semi or demi dyes in the first place. It seems to be all too much of a hassle, and I'm not sure I want to bother with it.

Thanks again, and I may hit up the chat sometime. Probably not right off the bat though. :0)
Voyou San
alittle bit late on this but welcome to the dreamers.. hope you enjoy your time here.
Hyoushitsu
I've only been around for a day. I'd hardly call that too late to welcome someone. :0)

Anyway, thanks. I definitely think I'll enjoy it here. ^^

Also, how does this forum feel about necro and double-posting? Those two things are often a taboo on forums, and I saw nothing about it in the rules. I thought, rather than just assuming that they were accepted and commonplace occurrences, it'd be best if maybe I could clear the air about it right here so I'm sure I don't make any mistakes.

Suppose I can be overly cautious sometimes...
Crimson Cloud
Welcome to Dreamers. Have fun, post a lot and don't disappear after a few posts.

P.S. Beware when posting at night. Strange things happen at the night...
Xerno
Ahem, I thought Athrun was gonna post a reply to answer your questions, but he seems to have been sucked into yet another black hole.

Double posting is generally a no-no. Except for the Bored Members Discussion topics in the Chat Forum, which are sorta like allowed spam topics. Necro posting as far as I know is only allowed if you revive the topic with a post with decent content.

Heheh, the nighttime is my time. :0)

I'm sure I'll be sticking around. Shouldn't be any worries there! ^^

~ Xerno, thanks for clearing that up for me. I thought it was suspicious when I saw nothing about those two things in the rules. I've been to enough internet forums to know that they are generally frowned upon.
Markies
I don't think double-posting is accepted on like any forum. There are very few forums that are okay by it, but most of them, you'll get warned.

I have noticed that Necro-Posting is actually a common practice here. A game will be announced, a discussion will happen, the discussion will die, the game will come out and someone will bring back the thread to discuss the game. Also, it happens a ton in the "Games" Forum.

It's nice to meet another newbie who actually has posted more than once and has come back after a few days. I welcome you and I hope you enjoy your stay.
The Evil Dead
Welcome. Hope you plan to make a stay. Active, contributing members are sweet.
Bloo
I've heard about you in LC. So yeah. Hehe Welcome to Dreamers.

Nice to see you here. Hope to talk to you soon in LC.

Btw I'm Bloo, somehow... the most eccentric member this year lol... Erm... Yeah...

Nice seeing someone who wants to stay here as long as possible.

The last successful one is yet still DB(Dragon Brigade)

I guess I'll just take my chances on the subject of necroposting then. :0)

Thank you for the welcome. ^^

And I see you're playing Tactics Ogre! Awesome. Quite possibly my all-time favorite game (as I'm sure you already know if you read my first post XD). A classic, revolutionary title in the SRPG genre.

Indeed. I'm planning on being as active as I can. This is a pretty sweet place, as far as I can tell.

I'm glad I could make a (hopefully positive XD) impact on my first day here. :0)

Most eccentric member eh? I'll be sure to remember that, Bloo. I imagine quite a few of us are on the eccentric side. You almost have to be if you're a gamer, in my experience.

You haven't had a lasting new member here in almost a year? As active as this place is, that's hard to imagine. But I guess this place has been around. At any rate, I definitely don't have any plans on splitting anytime soon. ^^

~Also, my friend's username on this site is Dream of Purity, if anyone was curious or anything. Went searching through the intro forum for him. DB is already acquainted with him through the RP, I've found.

Anyway, thanks again for all the welcomes, everyone. It's awesome to be here. ^.^

A bit late, but welcome to the forums, despite what you may see we are quite active. It's just that we're trying to be conservative and efficient on how we spend our energy. So we tend to appear not being active, but in reality we really are. Well enjoy the forums, I'm sure you'll have a ball.

I'm starting to get into the PS1 versions of the SRPG genre. I've beaten FFTactics before and this was the next one I wanted to try. I just started playing it last week, so I should finish it sometime in 2009. thatsuck.gif

It's pretty addicting and much more hardcore than Tactics. The battles are incredibly long though, but it makes you be cautious and I love the fact that every level means something. I'm enjoying it so far.
Hyoushitsu
Haha. Yeah, Ever since I played TO, I like to refer to FFT as TO Lite. FFT is like its mainstream, commercial cousin. It has more general appeal, but is a lot simpler.

Both are excellent games, but FFT doesn't hold a candle to its predecessor, IMO.

And right on with that "finishing it in 2009" comment. The game is pretty long. And considering the completely different story branches, it's hard to play it just one time too. Unless someone has a lot of free time on their hands, it'll take a while to complete the game.
Rhadamanthus
IMO, FFT and TO are on a pretty even level. smile.gif
I mean FFT has a few more customization options and a more open system while TO is just a lot more challenging.

Welcome to the boards, pardon my tardiness here.
Hyoushitsu
I enjoy TO a great deal more. FFT is still awesome though. It does have better customization, true. I didn't appreciate the way FFT's storyline ambled into nothing at about the halfway point. On the other hand, I love the entire OB storyline. I'm partial to branch paths in a story, especially when it's pulled off well, and I think TO did pull it off really well. That, along with its more challenging, enjoyable gameplay puts it above FFT for me.

Now that FFT has been remade, I wish TO would get remade as well. Update the translation. Plus, the battle in Rime would be one of the most epic scenes ever with today's technology. I would so love to see that.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome. ^.^
SpikeJr
Hey, seen you in LC.

Welcome, see ya around =)
Noir
No ##### way, you're Hyo from FEW. This is Death.

I mean the odds that someone the same age in the same state uses the same username are pretty low. And I only know that because I just checked your profile there.
Hyoushitsu
Haha. Yes, I suspected that was you, Death. Your posts initially did ring familiar to me, but after I checked out the "Where Were You Banned" thread, I became almost certain it was you.

Good to see my initial reaction was the correct one. How ironic that we're yet again together on the same forum. I'm certain this will be a far more pleasant experience than FEW. =p
Noir
There's a little forum drama here, like anywhere else. Nothing of FEW proportions though, I'm sure it'll be fun. happy.gif
