I think it looks better on a white background so...

Haven't photoshopped in like 7 months now. I know it could be a lot better. Critique?

EDIT: Redoing border. No wonder it looks bad against black. I'll post the new one later.

I'm not sure I like the glow you have around the guy's hair (emboss / outer glow or something?). It looks a little distracting and out of place to my eyes. The background is nice and simple, and the brown Persona text is nice, but I'm not a fan of the white text. It doesn't seem to blend with the background or the rest of the piece. Maybe it's just me, but I think you could do something to it so that it blends in more. Maybe go over the text with brushes and lower the opacity, or just change the color so it fits more?

Those are just my thoughts. It doesn't look bad though. Nice work. =).

Edit: I actually think it looks best on black, though it wouldn't hurt to add to the border.

i love it.. i mean the background rocks, the text is very well done and i love the effects you did to the stock, i think its a bit different than what you normally see and i like it.

VERY NICE
Markies
The effects on his hair is pretty bad-ass. The blue and gold that he has around him is pretty sweet looking. The text is a rather interesting touch as it usually means the person will look much longer to figure out what is being said. Pretty good!

I am with DB about the white glow around his hair and face. Other than that I like it. A border would make it better.

Thanks Voyou San.
I'm not very good at creative borders.
Could you give me any suggestions to make it better?
Phisix
That is much better mate. The grey border works a bit with the grey sort of colour in your background.

your asking the wrong person there, i am terrible at borders, i would think thats the thing i am worst at. But hey you dont always need a fancy border, a lot of the time, simple does just fine

Aha.
Borders are my fail too.
If anyone wants to give out some border tips, I'm down.
Also, to DB. I didn't use a layer style on his hair. I duplicated the layer and used a different blending option then moved it over the slightest bit.
I was iffy about it too but I'm not sure.
I think it turned out alright.
Suggestions on better blending the stock?
Phisix
If you ever need any tips on doing different pieces for signatures or in photoshop you should give here a browse: Pixel2life.com. I think there might be loads of different ways to do borders.

Oh, I see. Well, I’m not entirely sure what the stock looks like on its own. Maybe you could just get rid of the duplicate you made? I dunno. Most everyone else hasn’t seemed to have much of a problem with it, so you could probably just leave it. He just looks too glossy for my tastes, considering the style of the rest of the sig.

As for borders, I usually outline what I want with the marquee tool, then go to Select --> Modify ---> Border. You can also create borders within the border (if you’re going for something complicated, but I doubt it...You just keep going to Select > Modify > Border and choose the pixel ratio). But like Phisix said, there really are a lot of ways to make borders. The border you put right now works fine though. It’s a subtle brown. =).
