Don't know if this topic has been made before (been a while since I was active =\) - BUT, I was wondering, where do you go to look up movie reviews? I know a lot of people go to rottentomates or some look it up on ign. I, personally, like to go to Spill.com because it's entertaining and they're Texan - I mean, informative.
And on that note, WHY do you chose to use that particular review source?
I just like to know because, although Spill is great sometimes, I still have a hard time finding reviewers that I agree with. I sometimes feel like most reviewers are too picky. =(

http://www.theshiznit.co.uk/index.phpIt also has great features like top something lists and the reviews are fun to read.
Up until a year ago or something, i used to visit rottentomatoes for movie reviews but now not so much.

Here, haha. I'm not a big movie person, so I usually only see movies that I've decided to see upon first hearing of, but I check in here now and then to see what's up.
Personally, I think friends are the best to ask about movies. A lot of critics are very disagreeable, though my friends tend to share similar views, so I usually just ask around a bit, as well as check trailers. Usually works fine for me.

^ Same with me. This place is the only one where I really get my movie feedback. Whether or not I agree with it is debatable, but this is the only place I bother going. Sufficient enough for me. =).

All review sites are full of shite critics and shite user reviews.
I use IMDB.com ... But I take every review with a grain of salt. Everyone expects every movie created to be ungodly.
If you wanted actual critical reviews I'd stick with RT. I don't trust critics though.

I donno, I use Yahoo Movies, and check both review sets, users and critics. Though, as always grain of salt, the high reviews are usually good, though when I went to see the Happening the movie got a C+ and it certainly was not deserving of that. When I came back, it had a C-. Same for the strangers, except the grade was higher...
Anyway this one guy from the Washington Post, I think, has similar views as me, so I usually check what he thinks, though right now I'm not sure if it's Washington Post or New York Post, and I'm not sure of his name.
Anyway, either way, critics aren't usually wrong. If they're split on something, movie's got a love it or hate it sort of thing going, and everyone agrees it's crap it's probably total crap either way. Still, they can be very wrong about good movies.

I avoid reading reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Everytime I watched a movie that I enjoyed and I read about it on Rotten Tomatoes, I always see a crappy score. Rotten Tomatoes is always negative, as far as I have seen. It is a collection of #### crappy reviews.
To see if the movie is succesful, I usually check Wikipedia. It is dangerous, as there is a plot written down as well, but usually someone wrote down how much the average rating on this movie was, as well as a general response to the movie.
That and if someone on this forum or a group of people are enthusiastic about a movie, I might go see it as well.

Outside of Metacritic for compiled user reviews, I really don't rely much on the views of the critics. If the premise or trailer strike a chord, I'll be at the theater with no inhibitions

Usually check on RT for just a general score of the movies, then just skim through a couple of IMDB reviews, not reading much though.
Or I just watch the movie, and if it's bad or good, I'll have to take whatevers coming then. That's how we did it in the old days.

As for all the crap talk about RT, it's highest rated movies ARE really damn good, too.
