thought some of you football fans might like this, seems like they have upgraded a lot from the previous version and for us PS3 owners, looks like we get an exclusive game mode.. so i wonder, what could that game mode be? Will the 360 and other systems have a game mode specifically for their systems?

now i used to be more of a PES fan, but this past FIFA game i felt was better than its PES counterpart, so we will see how this one does.

An interview over at Gamespot with FIFA Soccer 09 producer David Rutter has revealed new information about the upcoming sports game. 30 leagues and 40 national teams are at your disposal this year, while the magic number of 250 key changes as reported before remain true. Highlights of upgrades from the previous year include improvements in "responsiveness, physical play and their affect through attributes, plus the AI." Different types of players are less homogeneous and you will have to utilize different types of players to achieve victory.

A Custom Team Tactics mode will be introduced where 11 sliders or criteria will allow you to determine how your team will play. There is also a promise of 140 attacking and 40 defensive options. The ever-popular Be A Pro career mode will allow you to play unlocked, meaning one has the option of a change of position and still gain experience. Friends can likewise choose to act as a teammate or opponent to the player in this mode. Lastly, Rutter promises a to talk about "a game mode exclusive to that system," referring to the PS3, later in the year. We'll keep you updated as details of the mode becomes available.

Looks good, I won't stop playing online if I get it but first needs a PS3.

The last one was great I play it all the time at my friends so I look forward to this one.

well the exclusive game mode for the PS3 has been revealed.

"Latest news from GC is that the exclusive PS3 feature is: FIFA Interactive World Cup being built into the game. So gamers can track progress, play games etc through the game rather than be so website reliant."

Not really been a Fifa fan since Fifa 99, but 2008's version was okay. I looked more forward ro PES 2009 really, but if they dont sory out all the AI, movements and all problems I may go back to Fifa.

I was more a fan of FES also, but FES 2008 sucked badly and FIFA 08 just literally destroyed it in every aspect.

The gameplay still kicks Fifa in the nuts, and as you can see Fifa is graduly copying more and more aspects from PES with each installment. PES 2008 on the PS2 was awesome and the best PES so far, but the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are very bad. So bad I throw the control in to the wall. Defence is very hard to do, through balls never do what they should do, first touches after a long ball or big pass are shocking, and the AI of your team likes to slide tackle whenever it wants when the ball is in your own penalty box, and thus gives away penaltys. I gave two away in the same match today.

the selling point for me is that FIFA 09 allows for 11 friends to get online, get on one squad and play a match.. badass

I still play FIFA 08 and I enjoy it alot. I doubt ill upgrade to 09. I do like the idea of having 11 people in one match. THats cool, but the lag might be horrendous.
