I have all 3 but i just started to play part one. I enjoy it so far, 3 hours into it... i especially liked the little nude scene in the forest with Lita and the female soilder. Its got cutesy little animals & enemies so my girl can watch me play it without hating and its got huge anime tits for me to gouge over so everybodys happy!
I recently quit Suikoden 3 for its boringness 20 hours into it. Im pissed at that!

Atelier Iris series kinda leaves a good taste in your mouth which is quite enjoyable, with second being my favorite. The artwork kinda drew me in when I first started it. As for the huge tits, there are a lot of them and on different occasions, unfortunately at few places that you won't be seeing again. Have fun.

You know, I've never actually seen Atelier Iris 1 in stores. Or maybe I have and just don't know.
But I did get the second one at AnimeExpo this year. They were selling it for $15 which was a little suspicious, but I still bought it anyways. (The cashier kid screwed up and gave me two copies though. <: D) I don't think they're direct sequels, but I could be mistaken since I haven't really played the series yet.

The front cover of Atelier Iris 1 has Iris on it, the same Iris from Atelier Iris 2. So I think they may be related. I've only played the second game.

You have replaced Suikoden III with Atelier Iris!? Now, don't get me wrong, I think Atelier Iris is a decent series, but it is definitely not better than the Suikoden III, the first two games that is. The third game I have yet to play.

Atelier Iris' series have different characters throughout each game. There are 3 Atelier Iris' games along with a Mana Khemia game which was just releasted a month or two ago. That follows into the series and has a second one being released later this year.
I'm playing the first one right now and I'm getting near the end. I am enjoying it as it is pretty simple.
You should definetly try Suikoden III again. It takes a little while to warm up, but the second half of the game is simply fantastic.

The third game I have yet to play.
You will be a bit disappointed. That is my thought anyway.
Some NPCs I think appear through the Atelier Iris series. That ghost named Pamela for example.

yeah pamela looks like shes on the front cover of part 2
and this part one seems to be the rarest of the series

It's not too rare, I can buy it online from gameplanet (NZ) for about $40, same for the other 2. I think they were on special though or something.
Ugh wait, just checked and they've stopped selling the 1st one

Atilier Iris 2 is a prequel to AI1, AI3 is not set in the same 'world'
I love AI2, really I think it's a fun accessible game with a battle system that I love to bits... Sadly it's incredibly unbalanced and a few right choices with the alchemy makes the game laughably easy... shame... It's a far from perfect game, but the enjoyable cast (excluding Poe) and light story really made it a great game that I would recommend to anyone.
AI1 however I am not enjoying as much, you can really see the improvement to the next game. The battle system is nothing special or anything we haven't seen before (done better) the story hardly draws you in the characters are forgettable (with the exception of Lita, although maybe it's just her tits that make her memorable) and the system is flawed (only being able to hold 9 of each item, the long extraction animation makes element hunting painful and even when you get the elements they soon go because everything has a high cost and you constantly have to use it to keep a character alive or keep your element creature things happy). Maybe I need to get further in, but I have all the main characters I think (although the majority of them join because it seems right or they have nothing better to do it seems) and I'm just not enjoying it. Shame because after I fell in love with AI2 I spent quite a bit of money on AI1.
Anyway, I'm reluctant to buy AI3... I'm worried just in case they take a step back into AI1 territory. I just found that there was too much going on in AI1 (mixing up things for shops, mixing up things for weapons, mixing up things for items, keeping your elements happy, going item hunting onto to carry 10 and have to keep going backwards and forwards, keeping a certain character alive by bathing her with elements, levelling up skills, doing really pointless side missions to get points or something ect ect). AI2 cut out a lot of crap, while keeping the base alchemy but simplifying the weapons. I would hope AI3 done something similar.

Its funny this topic should be posted now - I've just finished the main story of AI, or at least I would have done if I hadn't fell foul of the freezing glitch the instant before the end credits roll - still not built up the inclination to pick it up and do the boss battle all over again.
Tbh I couldn't help but be a bit disappointed with Eternal Mana - and not because of the glitch - don't get me wrong I dont think its a bad game its just it could have done so much more. I've found the game fairly enjoyable and its definitely had its moments but its just not one of those games that demands your attention. I found the story line to be quite weak, far too linear/convenient and overall far too short - its been a while since I've come to the end of a story by hour 30 - hell I got more time out of the first Suikoden! The characters lacking and found myself feeling more attached to supporting characters like Veola far more than most of the main characters.
I didn't mind the synthesis system in this one - however the gaining of new items was a bit too random for my liking, sure I like mixing and matching trying to derive new recipes but I still found myself waiting around for ages for the shop owner to give me the next set of basic recipes so I could continue - Blair at the Bakery for example was particularly difficult. And the lack of non-mana synthesised revival items until so late in the game meant you could so easily be looking at game over just because Klein was taken out.
I've read there's meant to be some bonus content after finishing the main story so will give the final battle another go this weekend and hopefully see what else it has to offer.

Trust me, it's better not to understand how this guy's mind works.

I didn't read some of the previous posts, so forgive me if I reiterate some stuff. Make ALL the recipes for all the shops. They open up dialogue sequences between your characters and the shopkeepers. In fact, the process of doing this is where much of the depth of the game comes from, and is very rewarding. The story is fairly weak and kinda short, but the characters are hilarious, and the shopkeepers get a LOT of development if you do the recipes.

AI1 - excellent fun old school rpg, with a nice bright interesting look and fun alchemy business. Never did pick up the other two, but I loved this game ^^

I was going to say, I have no idea what you're talking about hahah. Time limit dungeons sounds lame. The first def didn't have that though right? I would have remember XD maybe

Nope AI1 didn't, but I think it still had annoying random encounters. AI2 did Dungeons the best, there were only a certain number of encounters per dungeon (well, it seemed more like per screen or 2 but whatever) represented in a nice colourful bar and quite early on you could mix up an item to empty the bar or fill it back up again... basically you were in control of encounters. It was a beautiful system that I think should become a standard.
Not sure if AI3 had that (but I don't think it did) but as Wes said (When did you change your name?) they then put a time limit on all the dungeons.
Even worse then that (and the reason I wouldn't buy the game), there are only a few dungeons and each one has multiple missions, but because there is a time limit you can't do too many missions at a time meaning you have to go through the same dungeon over and over again.

I think you also cannot re-enter them once you leave. Totally ruining the exploration aspect of the game.
