Seeing as it concerns the movie, this is the right place, right? ^^;

QUOTE (PS3 Fanboy)
It seems that David Hayter really wants to pen the script to the Metal Gear Solid movie. He has been recently trying to get fans of the series behind his banner by asking them to email Sony and make it happen. Now, over at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, Hayter chats things up with 1Up, taking time to talk more about his vision for Solid Snake's cinema debut and even divulging about a bit of frustration with Hideo Kojima's over-the-top direction.

"Kojima and I have different styles," said Hayter. "But I've certainly learned things from him, especially about ambiguity and telling a story without giving all the answers." While he can appreciate Kojima's work, there are quite a lot of areas where Hayter just couldn't agree with what was going on with Snake. In particular, he refers to Snake's suicide tease in previous MGS4 trailers: "I didn't buy it at all." He believes that Snake, with all his years, shouldn't have to hesitate. "If he knows it's time, then it's time."

Another folly in his eyes was a fan favorite scene from MGS1. "It's a delicate thing to discuss love blooming on the battlefield with Otacon," he said. Another one was the alternate ending with Otacon: "It felt like it was written to be romantic. It was just humiliating." So what does Dave have in mind for MGS: The Movie? He'll obviously avoid doing any of the above nitpickings. With that in mind, it would be interesting to see where he would go with the film.

So, I know a lot of you have been hoping for Hayter's involvement, so I guess here's your chance to hopefully make that come true. I'm not sure if there's an "official" one, though here's a petition from PetitionOnline: The David Hayter to write Metal Gear Solid Film Petition

Edit: Okay, so you have to follow a couple links to find it, but the screenwriters' e-mail address is actually provided. Just click the first link in the article I quoted, and then the "email a certain Sony Pictures rep" link in the following article. The Digg page that will load up provides the appropriate e-mail address. (Supposedly.)

Hayter is a good screen writer. I'm pretty sure if there were flaws with the first X Men movie, they were not with the script - hell, even the second one. And the writer of the Watchmen comic praised Hayter's original script for it, though I don't think it was the final one accepted.

If the voice of Solid Snake can sober up the script, so much the better. I mean, as great as MGS is, Kojima likes to be extremely awkward when his scenes aren't about... what's going on terrorist wise. Which is actually pretty weak. And I mean, Hayter names those two scenes, but Kojima does it all the time.

"You forget what a sin is on a battlefield" just seemed melodramatically thrown in for kicks.

"METAL GEAR?"

This was actually brought up in the recent Zero Punctuation for MGS4. Click me.

LOL!!! I was there when people were asking him questions about it. (And when people kept on asking him to make shoutouts in Snake's voice. :\ Ummm....) I got that part on video too, I believe. He also started talking about how he sometimes gets into Snake's persona when he plays the MGS games, to the point where he starts grunting like Snake whenever he gets shot at. David Hayter, you are all sorts of hilarious.

Yeah, there was a brief talk about writing and BEING in the MGS movie. Unfortunately, he's doing neither, but I recall him talking about his own plans for writing the script. To be honest, I seriously doubt he'd get on the team, and I think he knows it too.

Creative differences came up, but only when he read the script and thought it cheesy. (Like the suicide thing, as mentioned.) He thought that Snake should've just been able to shoot himself easily considering all the others he's killed, but Kojima thought differently. But it's not like they sit down and debate about this. :\ He's only met the guy like, 3 times ever, and apparently Kojima isn't really much for conversation. *_*

Lols the article make it sound as if there were a huge interview about it. David Hayter likes his privacy, and the whole thing was merely a 5 minute talk.

You know, he posts a lot on his imdb board, so if you're actually curious just try and ask him on that.

He's a nice guy, I wouldn't doubt he would do that. (He shook everyone's hands who waited in line for autographs since he didn't have enough time to sign everyone's stuff.)
The Evil Dead
Hayter is an amazing script writer and it's a real shame they're not allowing him to do the script.

He can protest all he wants but I think Hollywood will have the final say here and I doubt we'll have Hayter penning the project. I think it's a real load of crap they're not letting him on board in any way because he does really understand Snake and the MGS series.

And yeah he does post on his IMDB board a lot... If you have a good question that hasn't been done a million times and you present it nicely, he generally does give a response.

If you ask me, "MGS2: sons of liberty" was more (maybe even on the limit) melodramatic then MGS and that (among other reasons) was one thing I didn't like about it!
Therefor I haven't played MGS3 or even checked out MGS4 (but I'm considering it if I find it very cheap)

if they make a movie about MGS I pray they keep it down to earth (special abilites is ok, as long they use it in a way that is realistic, and no f***ing matrix-jumping)

Zero Punctuation was quite fun, have to check out other vids there!
Denim
MGS3 was actually pretty sober, and the final scenes were great because they weren't over the top at all, it was a very different approach compared to the other MGS games, but even then, it had it's moments.

Yeah, so, if Hayter writes the movie, it should end up being a very good flick.

Not to mention during the second autograph session he stayed an hour more than he was supposed to just for his fans (I was one of them).

I saw that too, but it also says it was last updated in March, so the imdb page may not be correct yet.

He said he wasn't a part of it at all, so IMDB is so very wrong. ): They turned down his script.
