One of our sharp-eyed readers spotted an interesting listing on the ESRB website: a listing for Rachet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty, which has been an open secret since we have found previous evidence suggesting its existence. All signs point to it being a PSN download, but it is still unclear whether this will just an add-on for Ratchet & Clank Future or it can be played as a stand-alone game. With this ESRB listing, it shouldn't be long before we hear official word from Insomniac.

I'm sure it'll just be an add on for ToD. Probably just some more levels, items, and other crap. I don't see it being a standalone PSN title but I suppose stranger things have happened.

Do want.
Voyou San
add on or standalone, i care not..

all i know is i want it and i will have it

After months of speculation, Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty will come our way this summer via PLAYSTATION Network for $14.99.

I guess it is a standalone.
The Evil Dead
I think this is a great idea. I saw the E3 show today and this was one of the highlights. Only 15 bucks for a Ratchet and Clank Adventure is great ( Even though it's supposedly a smaller title length wise. ). The price is definitely worth it and makes me call BS on Capcom even more for charging 10 bucks for Megaman 9.
Voyou San
the game follows right after the Future game, on the PSN, 14 bucks, IM GAME.. wonder how long it is.

"So the engine had to be cut back to make it work as a downloadable title, right?" I asked, seeing no evidence that this was the case, but assuming the worst. "Actually," the Sony rep replied, "Quest For Booty looks slightly better in places than Tools of Destruction. We've improved the lighting engine since then." My mind boggled, I continue playing the upcoming downloadable "sequel" to Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

It's clear from the start that the emphasis is placed more firmly on exploration in Quest For Booty. There are plenty of characters milling around with which you can chat and as you perform the necessary tasks, a larger and larger area will open up to you. After a Metroid-style "oh noes, I lost all my weapons!" opening, your wrench is your only friend. You'll collect a few weapons as you progress, but much of the game's emphasis is on using the wrench's new ability.

Your wrench is infused with electromagnetic energy, which allows it to manipulate objects from afar. There are plenty of puzzles that utilize this in order to open your path as you try to find your pal Clank. It's not a huge addition, but it does the job of breaking up the usual rail-grinding, platforming and energy-tether swinging.

Quest For Booty is an experiment of Insomniac's; the game has been in development since more-or-less the end of Tools of Destruction and, depending on its reception, could be the first in a series of episodes. Or it could just be a one-off bridge between two Blu-ray games.

At "around the 2 gigabyte mark," Quest For Booty is a large download, but when you consider that it currently playtests at between three and four hours, this is a small price to pay for the game. As is the $15 cost of the game. Instead, the game could probably have been downloadable content for Tools Of Destruction, but as a standalone game it has the potential to pull more people into the series.

Sadly, Quest For Booty will not support trophies and, while it will be out before the end of the Summer, there's no solid release date. They're aiming for a worldwide simultaneous release and Europeans will be able to pick the game up as a Blu-ray disc as well as downloading it from the PSN. This is something SCEE specifically asked Insomniac for and the disc will not feature any extra content.

I'll take all the Ratchet & Clank I can get, so this is a must-grab. If you're not into the series, this game won't be for you. If you haven't yet given it a shot, $15 seems like the perfect price to dip your feet and give it a go.

i will be picking this up, you cant go wrong with more ratchet and more clank
Mushroom
Excellent idea. This is a great way toget people to invest in the PSN. I've yet to buy/download any games from it, but this is a must. The last game was frickin phenomenal fun and short games at a faster rate for a cheaper price? Do it.

This is great news, the only bad news being that I wonder how much it'll be in the UK... afterall we're still paying approx $600 for the PS3 (while you all whine and bitch that $400 is far too much) >.< and I've noticed that a lot of companies have a habit of just changing the sign before the price and not the numbers. I wouldn't be shocked with this came to the UK at £15... annoying... very annoying.

However, I'd still see £15 as still a decent price for it, not sure about the loss of Clank and it seems short but hell, R&C games are always good fun while they last.
Mushroom
To be honest, I reckon it'll be £15, and I'll pay it. Does that suck a little? Yea, but its so much cheaper than £40/50, i can handle it.
Mushroom
Well, this may be a double post, but it has a purpose.

The time is upon us: R&C: quest for booty is arriving today as of 35 minutes ago (UK time) and I'm sure many of you, as I did, play to buy the game asap. However, its came to my attention that there is a possibly not so well known fact that may change your mind, so I thought I'd post it up. R&C Quest for Booty may only be on the PSN as on the 21st of august, however, it will arrive in PAL territories physically on the 12th of september, only about 3 weeks away. It will be boxed, with manual, for the same price - £9.99 - and since PS3 games can be played on any PS3 consoels this is relevant to all. I just spent all day marathonning through R&C, psyching myself up for the game, to then find this out. I may jus go ahead and d/l it, and then jus buy it again in 3 weeks (since I really want a physical copy), but I figured people may want to know this is out there and Sony is not screwing you over.

You may all know this, but I hadn't heard and some others here haven't seem to have heard so there you go, the news may have been lost in the shuffle of the announcement.
