well, kinda, just the brand new box & instructions, my only question is why does the instruction manual say Directors Cut and not the box? And i think its only the one-disc release

I got it for free, but now i should be able to get the game no problemo gotta fork out the 45 bucks though...
I just checked some pics online and theres no difference in the boxes that include the Soundtrack. I'll just have gamestop run a SKU search to see what store in my two counties have it and i'll go to the store that has the one with the Soundtrack, the box isnt really important anymore since i have it. HAR HAR HAR HAR

Only those who preordered the game got the OST apparently.
And only the Directors Cut version was released in the US and Europe. In Japan both a regular version and a Directors Cut version was released. Not sure why it only says so on the manual, but apparently it's supposed to be that way, unless you have the Japanese first release cover.

doubt it, i guess theyre all like that. The fact that only the DC version was released here explains it.
Thanks guys, i'll probably buy it this weekend

Sorry to hear that. I think Nocturne and the DDS series are garbage... But hey, a lot of people don't.

I thought you didn't play Nocturne?
Anyway, a lot of people enjoy Nocturne due to its original setting and atmosphere, and also the challenge. Possibly the hardest rpg I've played. The best thing to do is to play with a FAQ and plan in advance. But getting through it feels rewarding.

Anyway, I was just wondering if you did play it, and if so, how far into the game?
I thought I remembered you said you played DDS, didn't like it, and because of that you didn't like Nocturne either. So that's why I asked. I don't know many who played through Nocturne, and it's impressive to find more.

After ordering this game, I only just got the game and no soundtrack. It may still be possible to get the soundtrack at amazon.com, playasia.com or something.

When did you order it? Back when it was first released?
And did you ever beat the game?

No, I just ordered it last week, and no I haven't played it yet.

Oh well that explains it. The OST only came with the preorder. That is, the first batch that could be reserved or ordered in advance back when the game was first released.

I got it for free
Yeah, we know how you do your business.
Anyway, I did play SMT: Lucifer's Call as well, which is how it is called over here (MUCH better name, imo) and it is definitely a challenging game.
I think you'll encounter the matador early in the game and without the right demons to fight for you, this fight becomes nearly impossible and that is only in the beginning of the game.
This game is truly unforgiving and any mistake will cost you. The graphical style is a love, or hate.
However, the gameplay is nice and it is fun to collect demons. It is like Pokemon for grown up =P.

I pre-ordered and got the soundtrack. The soundtrack currently has a scratch so one of the tracks skips (good tunes). You do have to level grind every now and then and some of the bosses are pretty damn tough, but if you stick with it the challenge really isn't too annoying. I played about 30 hours into it and will eventually go back and beat it ( I think I got a new game and stopped playing it). Fun game overall (from what I played) with a very unique and distinct plot.

how can the game be scary? it's not like the Silent Hill or Fatal Frames games... it is scary if you've been dependant on FF games and expect a cakewalk.
eh, nope.
like someone said, Matador near the beginning is tough; not impossible, yet not forgiving.
i started a new game recently, i need to go back and train/horde cash in the first Kalpa level... mainly because i recruited several demons that don't fuse well together- either giving me a weaker demon, or one with worse skills than i already have.
also, i bought mine straight off the shelf a few years back and it came with the soundtrack. yeah!

Not to be a negative player about difficulty - i LOVE games to have a high difficulty, but this game is freakin brutal XD I tried it about 2 eyars ago, got maybe a third of the way in and folded. I was at the part where you're running through these caves and you have to kill the 4 trolls or something? It was brutal though. I'm almost inclined to dsay they made it too hard, in a cheap way. But fairs fair, a challenge is a challenge, and I enjoyed what I could get through. Maybe I'll give it another shot sometime, but I'll def. do the DDS games first because DDS1 seemed to have all the parts I liked without the brutality XD

Mush, if I remember correctly, although I may be wrong, I think you were at the boss where you fight 4 or 5 identical ones at the same time? The trick here is to do the opposite of what you'd ever do in a boss fight. And that is to fight him while the moon phase is full. While he does get stronger because of the full moon phase, the real one will also drop a shadow. So all you have to do is hit the one with the shadow, and he will lose his huge upper hand as you'll never waste turns attacking the wrong one.

or he kept running out of FLoat Balls and whittled his HP away running through the poison mists that plagued that area.
I got a point where i had to fight three Angels (60+ hours in to the game), and just got screwed over. so i quit.
now i'm playing on and off (in between bouts of Persona 3), and currently in a rut- have several demons with a weakness that a boss loves using. oy.

I remember that fight against the archangels would have been hard if I didn't have Focus (Phys. attack damage more than doubles on the next turn) and Divine Shot (Very high critical hit rate). They heal at a fast rate, so you need to be able to do a lot of damage, fast. And at the same time I used Makarakarn (Repells magic attack. 1 time only.) with Nyx that works for the whole party. I kept using that until I killed at least one of the archangels.
