This is my 1st time making a wallpaper. I used Gimp. How is it?

I think it’s really good. =). The only minor thing is that generally people have their folders on their computer to the left, so that’d obscure the stock to the left (in my case all my folders are on the right, but whatever). When making wallpapers (as opposed to something of the same size that’s just meant to be artsy and not meant for a background), generally you want to make sure nothing’s going to be blocked by folders and whatnot. Maybe that’s just me.

I really like it though. Great work. =).

hmmm.. okay time for just a little constructive criticism:

1. Too many photos. In wallpapers, the BEST thing you could do is make it as SIMPLE as possible. What makes wallpapers nice is contrast in color, high resolution, and positioning. Your wallpaper is a nice image, but its just 2 pictures and some text symmetrically on there. That's not very eye-pleasing for a wallpaper.

2. Colors are wrong. Yea the background has some nice effects and brushes but there's nothing on Yuna's clothing that is either black nor dark blue. Her dress has a little blue in it but not at the same color as your blue in the background, it clashes.

3. Arranged awkwardly. The text right smack in the middle is odd when you have two pictures on either side of it. And the text is very simple and nothing really intricate about it.

4. No blending or effects whatsoever to make it a "smooth" looking wallpaper.

Let me show you something. This wallpaper was the first "wallpaper" I ever made, and it's actually a really bad wallpaper for hte same reasons I've said about about yours:

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a82/VLoire/tpaincopy5.jpg

The images are wayy too much, the text is random, there's no blending at all.

Here's my 2nd attempt at a wallpaper, which is better:

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a82/VLoir...ondaviscopy.jpg

Blending in the background, and although it should be flipped horizontally because the icons cover him on the left, there's enough contrast and not a lot of clutter to make the colors and contrast look nice.

These are what I consider my two best wallpapers right here:

The Megan Fox one is VERY simple, it's arranged in such a way it looks nice on the desktop, and although there IS more than one image there, one is just a background image and is faded into the color while the other one stands out on top.

And the Terrell Owens sig is proof that you can make a wallpaper with a lot of "stuff" and effects in it, but as long as you keep contrast and a foreground image to concentrate on, then it will still look good. Your Yuna sig has 3 foreground images to look at, none of which blend very well wit hthe background.

So yeah, sorry for a long post, and if it may have been harsh at times, but I haven't seen u around the artistic board much, and I want you to know that we all genuinely try to help ppl get btter here. I remember first starting out ppl always gave me really harsh criticism but I know without it I wouldn't be where I am today with Photoshop.

I liked it. I would have used it, but I already have enough Yuna wallpapers. I found a really good one that has Yuna in her wedding dress that I really like.

The picture of her on the right is really good though. It's a bit boring, so some added flare would really spice it up and make it rather interesting. But, for your first time, I am rather impressed. Congratulations.
