When you're done with something, whether it be digital or traditional, what do you like most about your own work? I know some people can get really critical of their stuff after staring at it for so long and working on it, but what're some consistent traits you like about your works? (:
Dragon Brigade
(Goodness, actual art topics. =o. Cheers, Apple, you seem to be on a role here.)

Quite frankly, I don’t like anything about my work yet. I’m still trying to just figure out a style and then I’m going to add more depth to it (like was brought up in your “concepts” topic). I dunno. Once I can consistently make something “eye appealing”, then I’m going to start adding more meaning. But until then I honestly haven’t really liked any of my stuff. That’s just from my critical perspective though. >.>.
Chalryn
(Yes, hooray for Apple and these topics. Thank you.)

I don't have a style. I hardly do anything original anyway, but even on the rare occasion that I do, I highly doubt there's anything particularly special about it. I generally just do stuff for self-satisfaction... which I usually fail miserably at.

I guess if I had to pick anything out, though, it'd be what I'd like to think is precision, due to being such a perfectionist and taking ages to draw just about anything. ^^; Though that applies more to my referenced stuff. (Most of them have taken around 6-8 hours, if not longer.)

I'm really not too critical about my pieces. I usually whip up a piece in an hour or two and that's that. I use some online tutorials to add some spice every now and then to try to get a different feel or experiment with another tool. What really helps with my "style" is what I'm feeling at the time for the sig.

Some things I like about my works though is just WHY I create them. I get really drawn into games and anime, so when I can make a nice looking sig of my favorite character, I just think of it as a sort of monument to them, and I'm satisfied at that.
Pesmerga
It is quite funny, that I always try to do different things, as well as look up various tutorials, but for some reason my signatures always end up similar to my own style.
This is probably, because I always mess around a bit, when I am making a sig, including when I am following a tutorial. I can listen very well =P.

What I like most about my own work, is usually the visual aspect. I, personally, believe that my own work looks pretty well and I think, that when you're at that stage, making sigs becomes much easier.
Koala
Lol. I really have no idea what My style is, because I'm fluctuating between lots of styles in some sense.

Its more of. When I look at a picture which give me a right "feeling" I'll go for it.

Like Flonne's, I'll go for cuteness all the way. Blythe Dolls can be beautiful so I made a more Artsy one, if creepy then a scary one. FMA Ed with a robotic arm, I'll fix it into a Galactic Theme. FMA Ed with sparkling Lights I'll fix it into a more "Angelic theme" lol. Gankutsuou gives me a more oriental feel, so I go oriental all the way.

So yes... I can't settle down with a particular "Style" I suppose. Which I am dying to find out which style is mine. I Feel my way throughout everything...

Traditionally, the one thing I enjoy most about the end product of my work (especially the inkwork) is the precision and detail. Usually I'm going out of my mind with frustration when it comes to the actual work of inking, but the end result is usually very satisfactory for me.

Graphics wise, I'm not sure. I don't know if I have a style, but to be honest I wouldn't want to be tied down to one anyways. I love doing them all, grunge, abstract, minimalist, "scrapbook", vector, so I don't really have a style per se. But when it's done, there's usually nothing that I'm impressed with. Especially when I keep in mind that there are others out there that are much better and much more impressive, so I will never truly be satisfied with something until I get paid for it lols. <:D

Heh... even though I haven't done much lately, I would say what I like most about my work is when I get inspired. I try to shy away from the norm, taking things in a direction not normally seen, even working with difficult pieces to make it look right. I tend to not do so well if I just try to come up with things on the spot, but I have to see what I want to make before I can make it.

As for style... eh, I try all sorts. My favorite pieces I have made tend to be either cyber-ish, or very "hard-edge" with no real blurring or fading. It just tends to stand out. Honestly, with all the new ways to make images on the computer, I still prefer to make my sigs almost "retro", simply for nostalgia.
Rhadamanthus
Traditionally? Theres nothing of mine to be proud of, I haven't even "found" my style there yet, but so far its creepy, distorted, and surreal. I just need to practice more and maybe people can tell me for me. Tee hee.

As far as graphics go, What I like most about my style is my lack thereof. I can't really define my style (though I'm sure someone else could) into one of the cozy gfx niche's found everywhere. When I look at a piece, I love it when the more "natural" things placed in the background are noticeable, or when the details really shine through and make them awesome.

yeah I tried

The theme behind whatever it is I've gone and created is what I'd be most appreciative about. In most they're not entirely visible. I know every piece has a theme, but I try to include one other. Something that isnt particularly related to the main theme at all too. It helps to capture that 'ahhh' look to it that I like when people do. I only recently started doing this though, so whatever made people say 'ahh' to those two Gundam Seed Destiny pieces I did back way long ago, still amazes me.

I'm still getting used to watercolor pencils - as I've just started to go back to art. I suppose I have children's lit. style when I draw. It's very minimalist and it all depends on the few images I draw and paint. I get frustrated that I don't have all the materials I need, so I get frustrated sometimes with certain things not looking clean enough.

But I do like how I utilize colors (when I paint). When I sketch, I really like my line work. I always get nervous about adding color because I know that something I like about the picture as a sketch MAY get lost in the color. It doesn't happen as often as it used to anymore, thank goodness. It only happens when my picture is -small-. I don't like to draw small, but watercolor paper is expensive. =\
Noir
My style is "bad". When I decide to open Photoshop I usually make one thing, they rarely look like what I have done before.. I think. I really don't pay much attention.

mmm, I just made one to see if I am right.

Fetch
I think it's safe to say my style is meh. I don't take chances, I don't use my full potential, and I've found my laziness and flaw quota to be a kind of anchor (but if I get too serious and try really hard, I'll get too mad or lose interest in the pic). My stuff is insanely samely, but again, no chances, no differences X/

I'm at the point where I like my stuff though, so, I'm rather happy about that.
Dream of Purity
The thing I like best about most of my artworks is the basic body form.... every time I draw a person, I always draw the basic bodily form first... and with my stuff, it looks pretty good, then I draw the clothes, and hair .... and I get way too critical... and my friends will have to tell me to stop.... or I'll destroy the piece.... and I usually just get frustrated.... its terrible...
Denim
I mostly draw only portraits, which involve me making a sort of kind of grid of 5 by 7 squares, each square approximately the size of an eye. If I do it free hand, it ends up being distorted.

That said, even with the grid, it ends up being distorted.

When I'm not doing portraits, I do surreal stupid things with my drawings, with random phrases or words that come in my head sprinkled in between things that come up on my paper.
Athrun
Traditionally, for drawing my style is always very detailed. Very thin lines and a lot of details. It takes longer to do that using sketch pencils, but I like it that way better.

Graphically, I don't know really. I do different things, but never gruffy abstract things, such as Rhadamanthus.
I like out of border things, but not so much because of style but because I think the signature frame can be a bit restrictive some times, or that I like to see things against a different background than just the signature frame.
Souls
Graphically, I like changing things up. I don't really know if I have a style because I don't do the same thing every time I make a tag/signature. I like to do whatever I think looks nice, given the stock and what matches, what doesn't, etc. When I do make sigs, I try to have them eye catching. I think that's my #1 rule with creative art, whether it be making an advertisement to making a signature on a forum is to have it stand out, and make people want to look it.
Tarock
I tihnk I like the detail in my work. The line quality is really nice, and I can do fabric really well. I also like that my style of varied. LIke for chatcial, I have a smudging style that I like, also there is this line with light smudging that I really like too.

It is hard to really point out anything else.

Two words: Dark and creepy!

That's the style I'd love to have for my writing. =D.

And my art, actually, but my art, as was dubbed by Koala, is the DBGS (DB's Grungy Style). So that's my new answer for this thread. ^^.

Wow, I have not find my art style yet. For Drawing, I can look at reference images and draw them 2-4 times bigger =)

As for photoshop work, I don't have a distinct style so far. Since I'm practically touching on everything myself =)

But DBGS Cool Style rolleyes.gif

compared to others i think i'm horrible at times i try not to be too critical on myself i just try harder next time, but sometimes on some certain sigs and peices sometimes i'm jus like wow i can't believe i made this outta this or blended blah with blah.

as far as style concerns, i don't feel i have one other than a "always the same thing" style. i like fractals and stuff and i try to do things a lil different here and there, but your true style will never change it can get better but so far eff me.
