much better drawn than the crappy american version cover, and yes we have the directors cut but instead we get this crappy cover

Finally the orignal japanese cover is probably the best

This game sold nearly half a million in japan and is very overlooked and underrated in the US.

I actually don't really like the original Japanese cover. The first one you posted looks the best, but I don't really mind the one we got either. *shrugs*.

I played Rogue Galaxy a year or two back, freakin loved it. I was actually going on and on about it to spike in chat last night, insisting he buy it XD I convinced my room-mate to play it through too, and he's digging it.
Love the top cover there, but meh at the end of the day its just a cover. Don't know about this game being udnerrated though, I think quite alot of people played it on here, i remember a fairly big thread going for awhile.
Definetely an awesome game though, I recomend to all. Level 5 ftw.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant-
Japanese cover w/ Yuri imo is better than
the cover we got.i'm not dissing Karin, but it's like they want to make her the main character.

I would have liked it too. However we all know that cover was put on for the US, because apparently 'sex sells' better in the US than Japan.

Maybe I'm just being uncaring about this, but the japanese and the US cover look really alike, other than the characters displayed above Rogue Galaxy lols. Now the top cover, that one's nice. *o* Very simple, direct to the point, and not to mention it's goldddd. (It probably ***glitters!!*** in real life too.)

Usually Japanese covers are better, though sometimes American, or even European ones. Yes, PAL version can have diffirent covers.
For example, all our FF covers are completely white and have only the logo up front, whereas American covers have pictures.

this is for example the American cover of Suikoden I
and the japanese cover:

isn't there a ton of examples of how american companys mess up the covers for games!
Like one of the first megaman gameshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:MegamanBox.jpgor the cover for ICOhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ico#Regional_variationsSorry in a hurry so I won't post up images
lucky europe gets in most cases the same cover as the japanese, sadly probably because it get's here later!

Whoa, the USA really got screwed over with the ICO cover... usually I wouldn't say the cover of a game makes much of a difference in the long run, but the ICO cover is very clever and artistic. The american one looks so unprofessional and a mishmash. I prefer UK covers generally over American (I hardly ever get to see the Japan). All the FF covers have been simple here but for some reason I much prefer that.

LOLS?! Everything about that cover screams old school 80's-90's trash, which I guess is suitable for its time period....but omg lols.
I actually don't mind the US covers of a lot of games I've seen. Although, in the case of FF, I actually preferred the ones with pictures since it's just more colorful and delightful to look at when I'm looking at a collection. I kind of wonder where the change happens along the way. Like, why do they change covers? It sounds like a nub question, but sometimes I wonder. :\

Because American's are stupid and predictable and everyone knows that if you put something intelligent, simple but well designed on the front then they'll ignore it. However if you put something shiny on it then they might just pick it up out of curiosity. The Magpie Effect.
Ok, I'm only kidding... well kind of... but on the grand scale of things it basically is the marketing section trying to cater for whatever country they want to sell it to. There is usually a lot of market research done. Sometimes it's a culture thing, such as the Suikoden Cover. Notice how the typical Anime style has been replaced with a more traditional western styled look.
