It's been speculated to pertain to FF VII since Nomura mentioned it in regards to the updated version of Advent Children.
It could be an announcement on a FF VII remake, or it could be anything. Obviously it won't be that another game is going multi platform, since you usually don't announce things that could be perceived as negative by fans in this way.

Sweet jesus, I hope its not ANOTHER FFvii game at least. @___@ Although I like the series....a fair amount, I would be taken aback by the amount of time and effort put into the franchise. I mean, it is their best selling one....and it is something that could involve making more money and business.......but really. T___T If they had the time and money to do another FFvii based game, they could've remade Chrono Trigger. <__<

Yeah, Cloud is gonna appear as a secret character in the Wii's newest "variety game" Super Chimney Sweep and Other Mundane Jobs! coming to a Wii near you.

Maybe it's a new Cooking Mama with FFVII characters for Nitendo DS, or, as I heard some rumors, exclusive for GBA.

But really now, I heard about the Final Fantasy VII AC COMPLETE with new different extra content or just some added scenes for the movie. It was about time to hear something new about it...

After playing Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus I can't help but feel the FF7 universe is due for a Genesis turn. There's clearly something left about Deepground and Genesis that I can't help but feel is due for a sequel. But who knows.

I don't mind a remake or another sequel. Unless they royally screw up the entire canon, but I don't really see that happening, so I'm not complaining.

Especially if they remake it. It ups the chance of me playing the game to almost 90%. I won't have to laugh my spleen out over the moving potato polygons. AND MAKE IT A PS3 EXCLUSIVE YAY~

Final Fantasy V and VI will be remade on a portable game system before Final Fantasy VII.

Considering I, II, III and IV have been remade, I suspect V and VI will be remade in the near future.

I do suspect if they're going to remake VII, it will be on the PS3 or 360, not a portable system. It just might come before the remakes of V and VI. I suspect V and VI will be remade for the portable system in the near future, whether it's DS or PSP is unknown when you consider I and II were for PSP while III and IV were for DS.

I agree, I don't think they will toss VII to a portable system. They do like to milk their cash cow, so to best squeeze all the gold out of it, better to feed it a full gaming system.

Laguna has the same guess that came straight to my mind reading this news - they pretty much have set up this gensis character in both CC and DoC so maybe a proper full-blown rpg sequel with the whole team? That or the inevitable remake, but I reckon thats the last thing theyll do to finish up the whole compilation project.

I'm personally psyched, i've enjoyed al lthe installments i've played/watched (AC, DoC, CC) so bring it on, i love tjhose characters.

Before Crisis console/handheld release? I personally think that would be a "big" enough announcement but at the same time disappointing which is exactly what we are used to.

Well there's been FF 7 AC, BC, CC and DC. I guess this could be FF 7 EC.
But they said it would be a shocking announcement, so I'm not sure if another FF7 compilation title would qualify as shocking.

You really wouldn't be shocked? It came to my mind as my first guess, but if they announce a new full length rpg sequel to 7 on the nex-gen consoles, I would be shocked XD

As much as I would like to hear about FFVII remake, I'll have to agree with Laguna on this and wish for a decent sequel as a full-fledged RPG on next gen console. But if they work on it like FFXIII, I think I'm not gonna be fired up when I remember how long would it take for that game to be finished.

Final Fantasy 8: Advent Teenagers

on www.finalfantasyxiii.net it says it's something pertaining to Final Fantays 7.

In all honesty, I would DREAD an FF7 remake. It's just because we all KNOW what happens in FF7 because of Advent Children, Crisis Core, Before Crisis, Dirge of Cerberus, etc. It's not like the game has any nostalgic value anymore because it's been so active lately. Know what I mean?

The remakes of FF2, FF4, etc are nice because they have NOSTALGIC value. The originals were so long ago that I would WANT to play the game because nothing has come out for it in ages. Whereas FF7 is so recent, it's not like I'll be SURPRISED or like "Oh i forgot this happened" in the game because so much has happened for it recently.

That's why I'd like a sequel. Keep the series GOING, don't move it backward.

I call it, Final Fantasy Versus XIII also for X360 to coincide with Wada's recent announcement in E3 only this time its Nomura doing the announcing.

Yeah, I'm with Sonic on this one, maybe it won't be that in particular but I honestly don't think it's anything to get too excited about. There really isn't anything really to say that it even has anything to do with FFVII, he just mentioned it after talking about FFVII:AC on bluray (Which can I say, that sounds frikkin AWESOME, it's the first time I've actually wanted a bluray film specifically, and one which I already own on DVD).

I'm hoping I'm wrong, and I'm hoping the rumour has some truth to it, but honestly if they're just going to do to FFVII-2 what they did to FFX-2 then I'd rather them just stop.

Also I'm hoping that they don't continue the storylines of any of the spin-offs because I haven't and probably never will (unless it gets released on PS2) played Crisis Core.

On the speculating front, how do you think Square would approach a sequel? They would probably have to set it after DoC so the world has changed somewhat, but you couldn't go on the same adventure, afterall some of the charm from FFVII were these nobodies trying to make a small difference travelling across the world and growing. FFVII characters are already very well established as being powerful and probably somewhat famous.

I'm thinking maybe one set in the same world but quite a bit after FFVII, maybe they'll make use of the new generation characters like Mareline and Denzel and finally put Cloud and co to rest.
