Another skimpy article to appease disappointed E3 fans. But still, good news (even though I’ve never played Pikmin).

QUOTE
At a developer roundtable this evening, Nintendo mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto commented that the company is working on a new Pikmin game. This comes the evening after Nintendo's E3 press conference, where many fans expected the company to announce a new Pikmin title for the Wii. More details from the roundtable are coming, so stay tuned!

Nintendo registers mysterious trademark for 'Piktura'

Siliconera spotted an unidentified Japanese trademark application from Nintendo, registered in June. The trademark is for the title "Piktura." Of course, it could be absolutely anything, from some kind of EyeToy-style webcam to a WiiWare game that makes jigsaw puzzles out of pictures on an SD card to some internal technology that consumers will never know about and which won't show up in Nintendo hardware for ten years.

But, as Siliconera pointed out, it starts with "Pik," and that makes it not entirely impossible that this trademark is Pikmin-related. Maybe it suggests generating Pikmin environments out of photos! The possibility of a connection to the Pikmin game that Miyamoto confirmed is infinitely more exciting than some random thing nobody knows about.

Any thoughts from Pikmin fans (if there are any here) or otherwise?

Being a fan of the games, I should give a response.

I am not concerned about the whole Piktura thing or what that's about right now, but I am a fan of the two Pikmin games and I am happy to hear that there is a third one coming out for the Wii in the (most likely far) future. The action RTS blend sort of gameplay is truly unique, and I will be happy to excavate more product placement in the next installment.

Yeah, it should be fun. The first Pikmin was awesome. The second one took all of that awesomeness and expanded it to ridiculous lengths. Pikmin 2 is simply one of the most fun games ever.

As long as they keep the gimmicks to a relative minimum, I can't see why the next game shouldn't be fun as well.
