Is there something in art (general, you can talk graphics or traditional) that you find tacky or distasteful? It could be a subject matter, or a visual element, but is there anything that you just can't help be get annoyed by, or cringe at the sight of? D:

Anything that uses a lot of bright colors and is what the common man would nominate "girly" and just generally looks gaudy. Paper cut-outs used in drawings or whatever bother me, unless they're used properly (and the subject matter is to my tastes). I dislike glitter on art. Don't know why anybody would put it on something to begin with. Um...yeah, I dunno. Some sigs that are extremely "suggestive" bother me as well.

I guess that's a small list of artistic pet peeves.

Not a big fan of "modern art," though I'm rather ignorant to the concept in the first place. I just don't like this stuff, like, someone takes a picture of a trash can knocked over, with some particular object mixed in the mess, and they apply some sort of meaning to it, and it's called art. =\ More or less, that's fair game, but it just always seemed... Don't even really know the word I'm looking for, but I never really liked the idea.

Otherwise, I think I'm fairly open to various ideas.

Lols, to be honest I cannot stand still life paintings and landscape. I feel like they're just so boring. D: I'm accepting of portraiture, genre paintings and whatnot, but I can't help but be extremely tired of still life paintings and landscapes....unless they were done in an interesting way like how Cezanne does his stuff.

And omg in digital art, I really really really cannot stand it when people use duplicate+guassian blur+screen. D: It just looks so fuzzy and awful and eeeek.
Voyou San
never did get into most art at museums... i go along with what Chal said.. like that famous painting of the fruit bowl on the titled table.. WOW THAT WAS AMAZING....

its like someone just puts out some plain jane piece of art, put some complex meaning and story behind it, and people are wow'd by the art...

......but..... I like girly colors sometimes, mostly pink. D= Not too many, too bright, or too often, but still...

Well, I don't have *too* many pet peeves really. I guess I have more art discussion pet pevees then actual art pet peeves (like seeing people say anime/manga isn't art, or debate of graffiti being an art or not). I guess one thing I find as a personal irking point I reach is when I'm inking something and I see WAY too many lines flowing/connecting around each other. It's like, I'll notice nothing untill I'm doing the inking, and ONLY then X/ I've stopped some pictures just because I felt too many lines touched too much in on area of the pic (sorry if that sounds wierd. I AM wierd).

Nothing personal. D=

I don't mind the colors as long as they're used in something tasteful, but when they're just bright gaudy colors for the purpose of enhancing the feministic feel, it puts me off. =/. I mean, if it's used to make something cute without making it all girly, then I'm fine, but otherwise it just irks me. >.>.

I can still appreciate art even if I don't like it. >.o. I assure you, you're fine. =P.

There's few things I find bothersome in art. But there's one that bothers me.

Boring names. A lot of professional artists do this, they draw a picture of something, comprehensible or not, and they'll title it "Clothing" or "Girl" or "Boat" or whatever's in the picture. Yeah. It's a boat. I can usually tell. The title doesn't reveal anything, though I suppose that's more honest or something, I just think it's boring.

Also the fact that my art teacher kept passing me whenever I would spill paint onto the paper, get lazy and just make a diarrhea of paints on the paper, and title it "A Scary Day at the Beach." Though I suppose I shouldn't blame her for giving me the benefit of the doubt.

Ohhhh... sometimes that bothers me too...... I try to make some point to title something decently, even if it's a tad corny.
