look's good, doesn't the guy with the gun look similar to Vaan?

Wow, it looks pretty awesome indeed. Looks like the hooded men from KH is back. lol
It was nice to see the main character walk around in a normal environment for a change. The CG definitely looks beautiful, no doubt. But I would like to see some gameplay soon.

Indeed. Hopefully a back to normal turn based system instead of what Final Fantasy XII and XIII offers would be good. I am excited about this game though.

Well Versus is being developed by the KH team, so my guess is that it's an action based battle system. But then again, who knows.
And I actually thought FFXIII looked normal turn based so far. At least I didn't see any steering and movements during battle except for the attacks. But they said they wanted to make it play like Advent Children, whatever that means, so it probably won't be just a standard turn based battle system.

Is it? Hmm, well something like the Kingdom Hearts battle system would be cool. I liked the music from the demo, hopefully the game has that sort of music feel when it is out.

Yeah its good to see other characters & environments as well as the protagonist for a change this time.
Would be cool to see some gameplay eventually as well.

gameplay would def. be nice to see. I liked the KH battle system so something similar to that would be pretty cool.

I had thought this had a slight Kingdom Hearts feel to it. Guess that would be because the KH team is working on it. xD.
Haven’t really been paying too much attention to FFXIII as a whole (Versus included), but the trailer looked pretty good. I’m surprised they’re adding cars into this, considering the characters use magic and all that “far-fetched nonsense” (though the guy with the gun made it a bit more “realistic”). Anyway, it looks good though.

definetely doesn't look as good as the main game, but it still looks pretty badass. I agree with the point we need to see gameplay of these games soon. I get the ponit they have insanely good cool looking CGI, but I need more thanthat now to stay amped.
Shouldn't this be in the FF forum btw :S

I've been thinking Versus looks more interesting from the start, and it only continues to.
By the way, for those curious about the text, I grabbed some (probably rough) translations:
"I Guardiani" = The Guardian(s?)
"I Fuggitivi" = The Fugitive(s?)
"Un Regno In Rovina" = A Reign In Ruin
"L'invocatore" = The Invocator? (Don't think that's even a word, but basically "the summoner," I guess.)
"Il Nuovo Mondo" = The New World
Doesn't really say a whole lot, but I figured I'd do the work anyway, just in case anyone's curious.

I was watching it with my mouth open the whole time. It was gorgeous

So looking forward to it. WTB gameplay but ah well, I'm just glad that I finally got to see a full video. Will be really interesting how everything turns out with this game, especially character and story depth.

Perhaps:
"I Guardiani" = The Guardian(s?) - The hooded people?
"I Fuggitivi" = The Fugitive(s?) - The two guys?
"Un Regno In Rovina" = A Reign In Ruin - That city or area beyond the broken road?
"L'invocatore" = The Invocator? (Don't think that's even a word, but basically "the summoner," I guess.) - Sounds like something to do with destruction or someone who keeps the rules.
"Il Nuovo Mondo" = The New World - Searching for a new place, or wanting to have a new world away from what badness there is already around..
Just some slight wondering from my part really. The game looks great in any case.

I think Versus looks better than XIII because it has a darker atmosphere to it. XIII seems more action-like, more colorful, whereas Versus is dark and evil looking. Kinda like something from Organization XIII, it reminds me of that sort of Deep Dive video.
I can't wait to see more CHARACTERS though. THat's what irks me about the trailers lately, there's really nothing much about the game that's known. I almost like that though, becuase nothing's spoiled, hopefulyl it'll all be fresh and new when the game finally comes out.

Honestly, I can't believe anyone is judging which game they think is better when so little of the games have been seen. Even if these weren't games, but films then there still isn't enough to go by. I keep seeing the term "Darker Atmosphere" being thrown about which confuses me entirely, is it because of the fact that a lot of the clips shown so far happen at night? I can honestly say there I didn't think there was anything dark about the trailer when one character got the other in a headlock jokingly...
and can I just saw how much that pisses me off... Square just LOVE to do this in their games to show just how great friends these characters are... CONSTANTLY... it is so damn false... FFX with Wakka and Tidus, Kingdom hearts with Sora and... well... basically every single character. Square Enix just seem to use it instead of, y'know, ACTUAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
"How are we going to show these two character's relationship grow throughout the game"
"Don't worry, just ignore all that and have one character playfully put the other in a headlock, that will trick the player and also have fangirls writing homoerotic fanfictions..."

This is just CGI. Without gameplay it's nothing. DoC had great CGI, but it was still a crappy game which only fans could play.

Seconded. Honestly, A normal turn based system would include random battles, I hate random battles.

Maybe something like the Grandia games battle systems then. I found Final Fantasy XII's system to be boring. Being able to see your enemies is good on the other hand.

Maybe a style like Persona 3's and Chrono Cross's then?? Where you see the mob walking around, but must initiate it to begin a turn based combat.
Personally, I hate that style. I love the active FFXII style, but what needs to change is
1. Gambits
2. The "Attack" command.
If they could make an active battle system where you DECIDE how to fight, that'd be amazing. Can you imagine a Tekken style/Street Fighter fighting style in-game?? Like, run around and actually have a system where you can punch, kick, block, and pull off combos?
So far from in-game battles, it seems like you only control one character, and if thats the case, and they've eliminated party battles, it's totally possible. I just really like that involvment in battle rather than just hitting "attack" and watching them swing a sword. THat's why I loved Legend of Dragoon's battles so much, cause you had to time the attack to the square so the battles actually made you DO something.
I'd wet myself if they actually implemented that in-game.

1. However, Persona's battle system is well suited for dungeon environments, whereas FF has been known more for it's open environment. I didn't mind the gambits, but setting them up was a chore. I don't understand though what you mean by the "attack" command.
2. I didn't play LoD (I know I'm an idiot, I had a chance but my friends hyped it too much), so I wouldn't know.

Ever played Mario RPG on the SNES? It's basically like the "Timed Hits" from that, if you've played it, though LoD has a visual indication of when to press the button, and your timing affects not only the chance for a combo, but the damage each individual hit may do. Similar concepts are applied for Dragoon abilities.

I remember the first time I saw a White Knight Chronicles trailer, I was really impressed with the physical interaction between the characters and the enemies. It looked like different body parts dealt or intercepted attacks differently. Blocking with the shield or pushing with the shield. Or sneaking up from behind and holding an enemy while your partner does an attack. And you had to time your attacks. That looked amazing. I guess if battle systems were to be more like you suggested, it would be nice if attacks also depend on where they strike, to make it seem more realistic. Otherwise it might just feel like button mashing perhaps?

Well FF XII is turn based, except that you can move around, but anyway, nothing has been said about Versus gameplay so far. It's designed by the Kingdom hearts team though, so people make assumptions based on that that it could be an action battle system.
