Is it out already? My PS3 won't connect to the internet (I've tried many different ways to get this done, and my 360 is working just fine), and every time I attempt to, it tells me that I need to download 2.42. It then attempts to download the patch, but the download ends up failing every time.


Anyone else having this problem?

The reason I ask is because I've heard no news about patch 2.42, and yet my console is telling me that I need to get it. I've even looked at Sony's PS3 update page, and 2.41 is listed as the newest patch.

EDIT: Seems a lot of people are having the same problem (what with everyone trying to download the patch).

The rumor I've been seeing a lot of though, is that this has playstation life in it or something.

from what ive read it has enhanced the trophies and makes them load faster or something like that, but i would also think hidden inside it are mabye components to work with playstation life when it releases.

i heard some people on other forums saying it improved PS3 functionality and that now the in-game XMB loads up a good bit faster.

all that has been said by Sony is that it improves PS3 functionality...

Downloaded it and also got a warning message saying that once it started downloading, I couldn't go back to an earlier firmware, so I'm guessing it did more than increase speed (although it may have done that too).

I was saying I don't know why Vern wouldn't be able to DL it, Voy.

Got it. It took a while, and many attempts, but it works, lol. I'm pretty sure the issue was with all the people trying to download it.
