It doesn't matter if you are new to Dreamers or been here for a while, a warm welcome to the Roleplaying forums! You have just stumbled upon the most secretive section of the forum... not. I'm joking.

Let me briefly introduce myself. I'm Seluna, you can call me Sel or Luna, or even Selly or Sellie, I don't really mind. I'm not sure exactly how many mods came before me, but at the moment this topic is created, I'm the moderator of the roleplay forums.

The forum that this topic is located in, this is the main roleplay forum where actual roleplaying takes place. There are two sub-forums, the RP Incubation and the RP Archives forum. RP Incubation is where new roleplays are posted and sit waiting for the approval (for more details, refer to the [3] link below), and the RP Archives forum is where inactive or completed roleplays are kept for everyone to read.

If you are completely new to things here, I would suggest for you to read the following links before posting in a roleplay or making one. If you still have any questions after you read them, feel free to post them in this topic and let me or my fellow roleplayers help you out. Don't worry, we don't bite. Well, not really... most of the time... unless provoked. ^^;;

You are more than welcomed to just say hi and introduce yourself (if you want to ^^, no pressure) in here. And I mean all of you, even you guys who have been here since before I came.

Guess I’ll be the first to introduce myself. =P.

Hrm, well, as far as names go, I honestly don’t care what I’m called.

My experience in role-plays is actually not that big, thinking on it...:

Chrono Soul’s Decimation Earth: Fell through nearly a week after joining.
Albel’s (now -Vincent-) Prafyr: Finished, now working on Pt. 2.
Lady Anna’s Embrace of the Night: Fell through.
Penguin’s Rethlyn: Immortal Legacy: Also fell through due to severe inactivity.
Chrono Soul’s City of War (or something like that): Fell through.
Gargravarr’s Wunumaj Tales: Fell through (on this site).
Chrono Soul's Pandora: Died.
Seluna/Vex Core's Dragon vs. Phoenix IV: Died.

I think I’ve only ever made one RP of my own though, and that was at a site I used to mod at (don’t go to that site anymore.). It was essentially dead too.

But anyway, yeah, those are my “credentials” if you’d call them such. >.o. I haven’t been a part of many that actually finished or got anywhere (save Vincent’s, and Gar’s on the other site), so I’ve basically just been RPing with the same people for the past year-and-a-half (first started at the beginning of last year).

Yup. Guess that’s it. I wouldn’t consider myself an experienced role-player, but as a writer I’ve been writing (*I think*) since I was maybe seven. So I’ve been writing for the past eight years, only really getting heavy on it in the past year or so.

Edit: Forgot about two rps I'd been in previously (last two mentioned). I might still be forgetting some, too. >.>.

Anyway, this question's been on my mind for some time and I've been trying to figure out where to ask this, and I finally made up my mind.

Why are there suddenly so many new roleplayers joining? o.o As in like... did somebody go and do a round of advertisement or something? How did you guys know about this roleplay section in a gaming forum?

I followed Tame here, that's about all I know @.@

I'm still very curious, because we don't usually have this many roleplayers joining in such a short period of time. Not that it's a bad thing. ^^;

There's plenty of gaming fora, 'specially for RPG's. Active freestyle RP boards are much more uncommon however, it's either all statistics 'n dices, full with stuck-up elitists, or both. If this growth you mention continues, I wish you all the best moderating the RP section ;p

i never posted here before. Posted in the overall intro thread and didn't realize they had one here. Any who, I'm in an RP right now, so 5 people probably know me already but to anyone else "Hi"

I've been in a few rp's that have died. I'm still trying to find one that doesn't have "DOOMED" written on it. And I too found this forum from google "role playing forums", about 4 or 5 links down.

I've noticed a big difference too, its nice. Plus having free roleplays is more of a rare occurence than I thought. I've been lucky to find them. To be honest I lose a huge interest in forums if there isn't a roleplay...non dice or whatever else anyway. I think this part of the forum is capable of gathering attention since people are pretty laid back.

HI, I'm Lupin, no relation whatsoever with Lupin the 3rd. You can call me Lupy, like as in Loopy, but spelled like.. yea.. I'll move on now.

I'm a fairly experienced RPer, even though I'm still new to this site specifically. I have my own book written, but I'm waiting to finish the other three in the trilogy before I attempt to get them published. I think I should probably put up my credentials, although to be honest, I've forgotten most of the dead Rps' names, or how many there were, but here's a list of the active ones, and any dead ones I can remember.

I found this site through google as well. I am an avid writer, even though I don't think I am going to try to get any published and all, I don't have time, nor do I think they are even close to good enough.

Hey guys. I noticed that our forum has a lot more topics now and quite a few have spilled over to the second page. So I'm sharing a useful little tip for those who, like me, feel that clicking over to the second page is troublesome and is not already tweaking the settings like I am doing now.

Go to My Controls, scroll to the bottom of the left navigation panel, click on Board Settings.
The one you should be looking at for this is Number of topics to show for each forum page.
If you have not done anything to this option, it should read Use forum default. The default shows 15 topics for each forum page.
If you want to see ALL the topics, pick 30 for the safest bet. If there are lesser topics, 25 can also work.
But also note that this applies for the rest of the forum as well, not just the RP section. It may or may not affect your page loading time, depending on your internet connection and various factors.

Another tip I just thought is worth sharing. If you want to archive the roleplays (or anything) for whatever reason (it better not be for bad things ), you can scroll all the way to the bottom of the forum where it says Lo-Fi Version. It will give you a very plain html page that contains 50 posts per page and loads a hell lot faster. I do my archiving with this.

I suppose I could introduce myself just for the hell of it...and being a little bored. Obviously, people can call me Exire. If we're friendly or working in an RP, Ex works well. It's what most of my online friends end up calling me anyway. I won't bother listing what RP's I've been in since they're pretty few and far between. Especially sad considering how long I've been a member. But I have been RPing for around five years, I wouldn't have any idea how many RP's I've taken part in...around a hundred probably XD. Sometimes I can be a little choosy in what RP's I join here, whatever happens to appeal to me and gets my own creative mind thinking. Hope to RP with everyone here, so see you all around!

Yeah, and what is really scary for me is the post rate. We haven't had so many posts (or new roleplays) in a short time for a long time now. But it's a good thing for us. ^^

I've never done RP before, but I have pretty creative. I use to poke my head around rpg dreamers a lot about 4 years ago. I've decided to come back and see what's up.
