Still a rumor, but seems quite plausible.

Kotaku:

* Arcade (no hard drive) to $199
* Pro (60GB) to $299
* Elite (120GB) to $399
Dragon Brigade
Maybe instead of getting a new PS2, I'll give the 360 a go. I know there's a game coming out on my birthday that I'm very interested in (Tales of Vesperia). =D.

Anyway, if these turn out to not be rumors, that'd be pretty nifty. Not sure if I'd be able to actually get one (unlike getting a new PS2, I have a hunch that my brothers won't be too keen on getting a 360 instead, considering all the unfinished games we have for the PS2.).

But yeah. Being slightly more affordable for someone like me is never a bad thing. >.o.
The Evil Dead
I'd really just prefer to get the arcade but I know it doesn't have enough space. Weak ass stuff.
Verner
Do those Pros have HDMI ports? Do they run cooler and quieter?

If both answers are yes, I may very well trade in my current 360, and pick up a newer one.
The Evil Dead
They have HDMI ports. They're newer models so I imagine they run better.
Verner
Awesome, I've been meaning to pick up a bigger harddrive, but for 100 bucks more, I can just get a 360 that runs better, and 60% of the space. I don't think I'll be able to fill up 60 gigs, so it sounds like this is what I'll do.
Eva
I thought the X-Box 360 received the price cut already?
The Evil Dead
They put the 20gb down to 250 until it's gone is all.

I've seen them but I haven't looked recently for more.
Mr. Wonderful
^Actually no, the 360 20GB Premium has been put down to $300 (it was $350).

Well wow if this is true, we'll at least finally be seeing an SKU lower than the Wii, not that will really hold long considering you'll have to buy a harddrive, but still. Consumer wise it looks appealing that the core-pack could be lower than a ##### Wii.
Noonstalker
Hopefully this works its way into Canada, so my buddies can pick up a box ahah.
JD-san
If they pulled this off by holiday season, along with the games that're coming out, sales would probably be ridiculous. Definitely good news to anyone hoping to grab one anytime soon.

don't get a cooler/fan or whatever, I heard those kind of accessories mess up the 360, everybody that I know that got something for it, got a red ring.

Lunar posted a link to the price cut of the 360 in another topic, here's another site reporting the price cut.

Now that Microsoft has begun cutting its prices in Japan and Australia, word's gotten out that price cuts are coming to the Xbox 360 in the United States. Most notably, the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade has been lowered to an MSRP of $199.99, which makes it the cheapest console currently on the market - $50 cheaper than the Nintendo Wii.

I might be able to get this system at this point.
Mushroom
$199.99...for no hard drive? No thanks. I got offered the pro model with 6 games for around $300 last week, but I said no. Simply can't justify that $ to myself for a system that breaks down as frequent as the 360 does. Sure, "but its better" yaddah yaddah, but everyone I know that owns one (and thats quite a lot of people) are still having the same RROD problem. I'll just stick to playing my bro's if any games come out exclusive that I'm dying to play.
LunarMaster
These cheaper models I believe are using the smaller, cheaper, and cooler GPU and CPU so we'll see if they are better at handling RROD than MS's horrible repair attempts.
The Evil Dead
The arcade model is a joke anyway.

I would hope that's true. Since I do plan on buying a 60GB HD 360 in the near future. I don't want to worry about having issues with the console. By the way, Microsoft does fix the 360 that has RROD for free, no? Do they pay for shipping and handling, too?

I agree, TED. How many have bought the Arcade 360?
LunarMaster
You get 1 year full warranty and 3 year RROD warranty from purchase date (make sure to register your system on their site when you get it). I've had the system since launch so if this one red rings after November I'm pretty much screwed.

Do they pay for your shipping and handling? Sony did not pay for shipping and handling when my PS2 broke and I had to send the system in. I was wondering if Microsoft cover shipping and handling, which they should for their system that has such a problem like RROD.
LunarMaster
Yep it's free. They send you a box along with the postage. You put the system in it and then drop it off at a mail center.

Well I hope so man. Maybe I sounded a bit over negative with my last post. I definetely would like for the RROD thin gto be sorted. If it wasn't a concern, then that offer would have been a very enticing one. The truth is, I would rathe play my multi-platform game son a ps3, thats just my preference, and a large part of why I have one. But its also true I'm a big enough gamer that I would consider the pro model so I have instant access to the 360 exclusives, despite access to one every weekend. But I'm a student without much money, and pretty busy as it is with my family, class, etc. I don't want to invest in something I won't have access to in my little spare time because its died for the 2nd, 3rd time, like most the people I know. I don't think its an acceptable state of affairs for any electrical good that costs that much. Price cuts are good for the general gaming population, but it makes no difference until the death rate of 360's is MUCH better, not just some/maybe.
LunarMaster
Update: Went to BestBuy today and saw the 20GB pro going for $260. You're better off paying 300 for the 60GB pro, but just let everyone know.
Voyou San
good deals i guess but not enough to make me bite.. Like TED said the arcade is a flat out joke. I am content with my PS3 as I think it gives me more bang for my buck, so ill just save and buy PS3 games.
