Besides me and my over-obsessive self, is anyone coming to Otakon this year?

Whether you mean this

I won't be able to join.
Give my best to KOS-MOS though.

I was planning to go this year with some of my friends who live on the other side of the country (and one who lives in Australia), but I wasn't able to procure the funds needed. Now they're all gonna be there meeting up without me. :\

Ah well. Maybe next year.

Is this a cosplaying event? I don't think I've ever heard of it before.

An anime convention. One of the largest in the US.

I hadn't heard of it either, until my friend went to it last year. But I'm not big on conventions anyway, so I suppose that's to be expected. Only reason I wanted to go this year is because some of my best friends were planning on meeting up there this year. Otherwise, I'd probably just ignore it.
The Evil Dead
I've always wanted to go to an anime convention but anime doesn't really fly here in the Midwest.

Oh, I see. I suppose the fact I'm not big into anime (with a few exceptions) is a reason why I wouldn't really know. Thanks, clears things up for me. ^^

There was a time that I went every year, in fact I went five years straight from 2001 to 2005, 2003 probably being the most fun I had. (Otakon X I believe it was, the last year with Mystery Anime Theatre, which was the best damn thing they had.) I went last year but not this year again, though a number of my friends from the area attended. I just didn't have the money, and I have been slightly losing more and more interest in it every year. I might go next year, might not, guess it depends. It can be a lot of fun, but I am not into it as I used to be. Not to mention that it feels like it is losing and more of of its allure every year.
