To be honest? I don't have a ##### clue what this is.

A Hypothetical Dialog

In a whole of nothing, there are things that make you feel small.

Two people stuck to imaginary chairs at an imaginary table smile at each other. There's an imaginary glass.

"There's a glass."
"I suppose there is."

Everything in a world of hypotheticals is real. At the same time, everything's still nothing.

"Is there water in the glass?"
"We won't know until there's an answer to this question."
"Then let's suppose there is."
"Then there is."
"Is it full?"
"I'll say it is."
"How full?"
"To the brim."

There's a glass on the table.

"There's a cat in a box."
"Not this again."
"Again."
"We go through imaginary cats and imaginary boxes and imaginary poisons every day."
"We go through this discussion every day."
"You insist on it."
"On the contrary, you do."
"Maybe. There is not cat this time."
"Oho, rebel. There's no box then either."

There was a cat there on the brink of becoming real, but it disappeared.

"Is there such a thing as space?"
"Quantum entanglement would say no."
"And so, is there no such thing as motion?""
"If there's no space, there's no motion."

A person stands up and walks across to the other one.

"There's motion."
"Not unless there's someone who just did the same across the universe."
"Is there a universe?"
"There must be."
"Then there must be space."
"It's so easy to use sophistry on a nonexpert of the field."
"So let's suppose you are an expert."
"I will not."
"Stick with the Ich."
"Always."
"Let's suppose I am an expert."
"Let's not."

A person is back at his seat.

"Let's suppose I love you."
"No."
"Why not?"
"Indifference is more honest than love."
"Not if it's mutual."
"Indifference is more honest when it's mutual."
"Let's suppose I am indifferent."
"I've been doing so all along."
"Then I am indifferent."

There's silence.

"If when we die nothing happens, philosophy is unimportant."
"Oh, is that right. Why?"
"There's no purpose in applying universal truths if they aren't universal. Nothing is universal if everything perishes."
"Hydrogen is."
"Hydrogen is. Touche."
"Or not. Maybe it'll all convert into heat energy when heat death occurs."
"Does it work like that?"
"Let's suppose it does."
"Boltzman killed himself for that idea."
"Who is Boltzman?"
"No one."

There was no Boltzman.

"Let's suppose we aren't."
"I won't."
"Like the nothing too much."
"I like the something too much."
"Even if it's just hypotheticals?"
"Hypotheticals are fairer."
"Fair and honest is best?"
"Ideal."
"Let's suppose this is a perfect world."
"It isn't a world."
"Then not."
"You're submissive."
"You're dismissive."
"You rhyme for no reason."
"There needs to be no rhyme or reason."
"Nothing isn't poetry."
"It is the best poetry."
"Contradictions don't come from you often."
"I am not submissive."
"Then you're a lie."
"I suppose I am."

He was a lie. The person wasn't there.

"And so is the table and the glass. And hypotheticals."

Everything disappeared.
Dragon Brigade
I actually liked this.

It reminds me of those old word games where you keep asking someone over and over, What do you want?, Who are you?, Why are you here?, etc., and you sort of just keep asking those questions, getting a different response each time until they start delving deeper and deeper, trying to get to the core of whatever it is.

I dunno. That's just what it reminded me of. =).
