I looked through a good amount of pages looking for a topic on this but couldn't find any, so here this is.

So last week I finally picked up Metroid Prime 3 almost a year after it first came out, had been meaning to get it for a while now but I just kept putting it off. So I got it, played it, and just beat it for the first time a few minutes ago. I have to say, while this game had some pretty awesome moments (fighting Ridley while falling a few miles, dropping the nuke on Elysia's Leviathin, etc.) it was definitely the weakest in the series, and especially by the end this was really apparent. This was a great game, but I really felt like it was holding my hand constantly (every time you get near something you can interact with, it tells you what to do, etc.) and it really got rid of some of the depth that I felt the other games had (beam weapons and upgrades all stack instead of being able to switch between different beams, no power bombs, etc.).

In terms of the story, it was pretty cool, but I felt that it was going to, and should have gone in a different direction. Before the final battle, I was under the impression that the pirates captured an aurora unit, which they did, then once you defeat Dark Samus, it merges with the Aurora unit, as it did, and becomes Mother Brain of Super Metroid, which it didn't instead of the final battle that occured in the game. Also on the note of the final battle, it was ridiculously easy and at no time was I ever in danger of dying.

Anyway, anyone who's played it here, what are your impressions of the game? My opinions are also open for discussion of course.

EDIT: Also, I would like to point out that while overall its the weakest, in terms of controls, its probably the best in the series. The fact that lock on is only to strafe, while you still have to aim (although with the Wii remote) made it pretty good controls. For once Wii controls add to the experience!

I liked it best out of the prime series because of it's control. Though the story scenes might've felt it a bit not-metroid-ish, it made it much easier to keep playing if you didn't know where to go, wheras in most metroid games I have the problem of continueing just because I don't feel like I've reached anything in the game. It's not like it's not fun anymore mind you it's just I don't feel like picking it up again the next day.

However like every metoid game I've never finished it. Reason being my brother accidently deleting every single save file on the wii console. Since I was just a few energy cores away from the final fight, I didn't want to play it again all over again from the start and then there were MKWii and SSBB ._.

The controls, they were definately the major turn on, it felt fantastic aiming with your own arm, it took little practice and felt very natural. Most of the time in other games, my main purpose was; lock, shoot and roll. Other shooters with their dual stick controls felt wacky but Corruption combined the good parts and made it feel so much better.

The difficulty was definately lower than the other two entries in the series, however if you unlock the even harder mode I think that a challenge should be present.
Dragon Brigade
I haven't actually gotten a chance to give this one a go yet. My sister has it, but every time I visit her, I've been cracking away at Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. For the moment, I'll have to settle with Metroid Prime for the GC (which I still haven't played. D= .).

If it's good though (which is what the general consensus seems to be, if not a perfect game), I'll make sure to try this out sometime. The only Metroid I've played is Hunters for the DS.

I had been meaning to pick this one up back when it originally came out last year, but never got around to it. Now that my Wii is fading into obscurity from a lack of decent games, I feel its time to go pick this one up and at least find out what happens in the last installment. I didn't really get into the first two MP games, but the gameplay in MP3 looks much more refined than in the first two games. I've heard mixed reactions to the controls, most saying they are flawed in some areas but still playable. Hopefully its worth $40. nocomment.gif

Not as good as 1, but I liked it more than 2. The control was done exceptionally well, considering that nearly every other FPS for the system is no where near as smooth and polished as MP's control scheme was. I was glad that I was not going inbetween a dark and light world, never did the like that theme from the first one. But I do admit that the constant interaction with the characters in this did make it feel less like a Metroid game. Not that I mind seeing the other powers at play, just that it was a first that they finally shown the fact that Samus is not the only hunter in the galaxy.

My biggest disappointment was the fact that they never did anything with the other hunters other than kill them off. They could have done something more with them if they were going to introduce characters with their own voice actors and all.
